Ilovemycombover - a lot's to do with the spread, which varies dramatically from day to day with H&T. So whilst on paper it can look like a big rise (or fall), in practice it's a bit more smoke & mirrors. The ASK close is currently rangebound beween about 440p & 455p. Eventually it will preumably break out of this (either up or down). I too have confidence in this company, paricularly as it's in the right sector just now. So I anticipate it breaking through to 550p at some point within the next year, but that's just a guess.

draye - your comment "TIM better not F** it up" makes me wonder just how well you know Tim and his track record!

I get that you might want at least a couple of different studies to test the efficacy of Slimbiome. But as today's RNS indicates, this is the "third human study on SlimBiome". How many are we going to need before someone actually gets off their backside and starts trying to sell it?

Despite (or perhaps bacause of) being a LTH here, I can't see why you'd be topping up right now. H123 is forecast to be dire YOY and this will be confirmed in the next major trading release this autumn. Between now & then, I simply can't see anything that's going to significantly change investor sentiment for the better here. I vowed long ago never to throw any further money at IQE as it's been a serial disappointment since 2017. I might just change my mind if it sinks below 20p, as I'd then consider it slightly oversold. But until such time, it's uninvestable as far as I'm concerned.

Always problematic to pick one or two SMT holdings which have risen in value (even if they're large holdings), then question why SMT hasn't risen as a whole. Reason is, SMT has many more holdings which presumably will have dropped in value over the same period. I suspect the current NAV disconnect has more to do with their unlisted holdings. Even though SMT revalues these fairly regularly, they must be notoriously hard to assess with the same degree of confidence as listed securities. And in the current twitchy SVB environment, investors will demand an increased risk premium to buy into ITs like this (however limited their exposure to such banks). That, in effect, is what the current discount to NAV reflects IMHO. But I suspect SVB nerves will be fairly short-lived.

draye - I'd question your logic when you say "If ... the dosage was the problem then the value of lupuzor will increase. As now it is not just suitable for the sub population with the biomarkers but the wider population." Personally, I don't think that follows at all.

One can argue about the semantics, but the fact is, last P3 failed to meet its endpoints. And it's the dosage the FDA highlighted as a potential problem.

Ubik_Fresh - I’d say the worry is more whether banks/financiers will become increasingly reluctant to risk capital on startups. But markets & investors have short memories. And the prompt action taken in both the UK & US to prevent SVB contagion seems to have worked. My guess is this will blow over fairly quickly, but I could be wrong!

Draye - are you sure P3 results will be out by 2024? No-one argues the share price would rise on a positive P3 readout. But plenty would question whether P3 will EVER be positive, given IMM’s history.

I’d pay zero attention to what CNBC Pro say (or any other analysts & investment platforms, come to that). They’re all clueless and you're far better off just trusting your gut instinct.

ubik_fresh - of course he can't. No amount of charts, seaweed or fingers in the air help anyone guess where the share price is heading. For that's precisely what it is - total guesswork.

downbutnotout - What's the rush? I suspect there'll be plenty of time to top up at prices similar to today's (or lower). Nothing's likely to move the dial significantly northwards now until September. And that date's when H1 23's dire figures are confirmed . So it'd take some mightily positive outlook statement to change sentiment even then.

SWLC - I'll wager anything you like that ain't gonna happen by today's close.

martinu - problem is, the partners which Opti selected (presumably 'cos they were easier to deal with than the NHS) have so far sold diddly squat.

oogleflugal - Agreed, NAV history can be a useful guide. But I'm unclear how you interpret it. Are you saying the time to sell is when there's a divergence from the long term trend and a move from premium to discount? If so, referring back to the chart I attached yesterday, surely you'd have taken the sudden uncharacteristic discount that occurred in 2019 as a sell signal. Which would have been a big mistake, as the share price subsequently almost trebled in less than two years.

For all Tim's faults (and there are far too many to list) here, he hasn't robbed any shareholders. Investors make their own decisions and should inform themselves about the company directors' track records before parting with any dosh.

oogleflugal - not sure what you mean by “they usually trade slightly above discount”. If you mean at a premium, then again that’s a huge generalisation. hardboy - indeed. Though I’m not sure broker re-ratings unduly influence yer average investor any more. Most brokers are clueless and all have a hidden agenda of sorts. But I think the share price WILL re-rate at some stage over the next year. Probably almost despite the brokers.

oogleflugal - I think your assertion that "BG have been dreadful in just about every department" is highly misleading. If you bought SMT near the peak, then I guess you might take that view. If you've held 5 years or more, less so.
