From the December 2018 report:-

" In France, the Linky smart meters will communicate with data concentrators, through powerline carrier technology. Data will then transfer to a central information system, using tele-communications network such as GPRS."

Unlike France, PLC, as I understand it, has its limitations in India due to the infrastructure and condition of the distribution lines.

So another form of delivery may be required.

I seem to remember Genus Power, having an agreement with Corinex, a Canadian Broadband over Powerline ( BPL ) company, in 2013, to develop an Indian indigenous BPL smart meter. But they have over recent years, since the acquisition of Connode and the deveopment of the Omni-mesh solution, decided to Partner with CyanConnode.

I agree. Encouraging percentages/comparisons, between EESL confirmed installations and the CyanConnode and Partners confirmed installations, as an overall project.

And the RF electricity smart meter market, is the one that CyanConnode and Partners are initially interested in, in India.

But still some way to go yet.

....... I provided on Wednesday, last week, shows that the Indore project has an expected payback period of 24 months. With the CyanConnode and Partners installed systems in India to-date, giving a 99% data availability success rate, having installed 10 AMI projects in India, covering 200,000 customers/end-points.

EESL today confirmed the installation of 10 lakh ( 1 million ) smart meters in India.

So CyanConnode and Partners, have installed either 20% additional smart meters to the 1 million smart meter installations high lighted by EESL today, or, CyanConnode and Partners have installed 20% of the total smart meter installations highlighted by by EESL today.

Either way, it would seem a substantial smart meter market involvement/achievement, involving the RF solution that CyanConnode and Partners, have provided.

I think that the Indore project has been generally highlighted recently, along with other successful CyanConnode RF installations in Mysore, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Mumbai. As is shown on slides 4 and 12 and a report on slides 16 and 17, on Anils twitter account. ( Click on the first photograph of 6, on the right-hand side of the page, for the slide-show.)

Whether the ISGF will cover the Indore project specifically, will have to be seen.

I do not see the ISGF/EESL, as being in opposition, as you put it. Although a number of the challenges and observations that the ISGF highlighted in the report that you posted, from November 2018, that EESL and DISCOM's would, in their opinion face, have since been proven correct.

Which may, in part, be the reason for the November 2019 EESL Inspire " ..... closed-door round-table event .... " which included EESL, IntelliSmart, the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund ( N.I.I.F.) and other stake-holders, including CyanConnode.

The ISGF Bulletin is, I find, a general monthly report on the Indian Smart Grid development, including news on electric meter projects/solar projects/electric vehicle deployment/renewable energy deployment/smart cities/etc., as well as other global news on similar projects.

Anil mentions in the report, that " The market is already in shape, as there is a growing inclination for more participation and control over electricity purchasing and use, there is a need to interact with DISCOM's in different ways, like mobile apps, social media. We can see ample opportunities to work on connecting consumers on a mobile app, to buy the electricity in advance ( pre-paid Smart Meters ) based on consumer behaviour."

Anil also goes on to mention possible new applications, for the " ...... Intelligent Charging Infrastructure of Electric cars, transformer monitoring and distribution and automation."

Also from the report:- " Our 6LowPAN RF Mesh solution is best suited for such applications as the RF canopy is already laid , by us, , for Smart Metering roll-out, across various cities like Indore, Ahmedabad, where such an application can be explored, there is ample opportunity to integrate more devices on the same infrastructure."

Very interesting and very promising, I would say.

I believe you are correct. The figure that CB highlighted ( 10,00,000 ) translates into 1,000,000, not 10,000,000. A point I made to Vas a couple of days ago, in connection with another number.

If you go to the EESL, Twitter page and scroll down to the 23rd November, 2019, there is a figure of 6.5 lakh mentioned, or 650,000 " smart meters " that were confirmed as being installed in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.

Whether all the meters were actually " smart " is unclear.

I seem to remember Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh being included in the three large tenders, ( 10m/5m, wasn't there another 5m tender? ) put forward by EESL. But Delhi and Bihar, I think were part of different tenders.

I think it is worth remembering, that CyanConnode share-holders, on this bb, have been told periodically over the last 18/24 months, that CyanConnode RF solutions are not the only choice. As a CyanConnode share-holder, you accept competition. As with any other product/service. The directors and senior management have openly acknowledged and discussed competition.

But MSEDCL, have been using a different RF solution, which apparently does not match their aspirations, for smart meters. Who tendered for the RF technology or the meters, is also still unclear.

But there are some RF installations in India, Indore in particular, that may provide the answer.

MSEDCL seem to have been installing RF meters, over recent years, that now, do not come up to the required specification that MSEDCL require, or even possibly the Indian Government required specification.
