" The new Omnimesh Cellular products deliver secure end-to-end communications across both public and private carrier networks. To meet a range of market requirements, the products are available in all cellular regions and bands and support all the 2G, 3G, 4G and emerging 5G standards, including NB-IoT and CAT-M1 IoT Cellular technologies."

An interesting range of products.

There was a report out, dated February 2nd February, 2022, that references 4G ( and other technologies, including 2.5G, 3G, 5G, LTE and NB-IoT ) in connection to smart meters.

From the report:-

" Whilst 4G enabled smart meters are being deployed, they can be seen as using a sleigh-hammer to crack a nut and are not really efficient use of technology ( or budget ) especially in dense urban installations where a cell can quickly become overwhelmed by volume connections."

So maybe this is why smart meters specifically, were not mentioned in the BT, Vodafone, O2 and Three UK report posted yesterday.

This seems to be a " mobile " report/update, not a smart meter update.

I recalled talking to my suppliers Colourbounce, in a post yesterday, over the last few months, after you had posted your experiences with your suppliers and the reply I got from yourself was very dismissive. Much like today.

It would seem that you can table your experiences, but no one else can table there's.

On reading through the report posted by jake yeaterday, at 12:23, which mentions the 4G deal, which included mobile providers BT, Vodafone, O2 and Three UK, I cannot find any reference to smart meters?

Validation of CyanConnode's cellular technologies.

From the Hardman & Co report:-

" The new MENA deal is compelling from a technology perspective. The announcement notes that the data transmission technology being deployed is cellular. Traditionally cellular options, such as 4G and LTE networks, consume too much power. They are also less suited to applications where only a small amount of data is transmitted infrequently; for example, meters for reading gas, electricity and water consumption. CyanConnode is an acknowledged leader in narrowband cellular technologies and this contract is strong validation of the company's capabilities in narrowband cellular technologies. As we discussed in our previous research reports, on CyanConnode, the long-term opportunity in Machine-to-Machine ( M2M ) communications and IoT is immence, as these technologies enable utilities, enterprises and entire cities to manage their assets, operations and environment more optimally."

Interesting that they mention " .... 4G and LTE networks .... " in the report.

Good morning tonyj,

My gas provider has been sending me text messages for some time now, about wanting to install a SMETS2 gas meter. So I contacted the gas supplier about having a gas meter fitted and about 10 minutes into the conversation, they asked me about did I have a SMETS2 electricity meter. I told them that I was still waiting for a SMETS2 electricity meter and the gas supplier told me that I could not have a SMETS2 gas meter, until I had a SMETS2 electricity meter.

But the gas supplier said that they could provide both SMETS2 smart electrity and gas meters.

But when I contacted the electricity supplier, about having a SMETS2 electricity meter fitted, I was informed that I wasn't on the list yet.

No doubt they will sort it out amounst themselves, in due course. Eventually.

New contract win in Middle East/Africa region.

From the Hardman & Co report:-

" This weeks announcement of a substantial contract win in a new region for CyanConnode, confirms that activity levels remain buoyant across the smart meter industry, globally. The contract is for both electricity and water meters and entails the deployment of CyanConnode's cellular communications platform to connect meters to central infrastructure. The hubs being deployed will handle up to 1m smart meters. Based on typical pricing, we expect this to be a multi-million-pound contract for CyanConnode cumulatively over the next two to three years. The hardware element will be paid upfront, while the maintenance element will be deferred over the lifetime of the contract. Details of the customer remain confidential. However, it is noteworthy that it is only hubs that are being deployed."

Earlier in the report it mentions that the " ..... hubs to connect up to 1m existing meters to central infrastructure."

So, an interesting development.

Sorry for the delay in responding, but I had a busy night, last night and it ended up being to late to reply.

I have looked again at your post from April 1st, 2022 that you mentioned. It is an interesting concept, that companies like SilverSprings/Trilliant would participate with CyanConnode on projects, if that is what you are suggesting. But stranger things have happened, so we will have to wait and see what happens/if anything happens, in that way.

But there may be meter manufacturers that could have put forward their own RF solutions for these tenders or be promoting a competitor RF solution, in that case they would be a competitor of CyanConnode. But that does not mean that these meter manufacturers that are competitor companies, could not Partner with CyanConnode if required on various projects, if CyanConnode are confirmed as an RF solution provider.

There was some encouraging information within the Hardman report and hopefully, the circa 40 million electricity meters that are out to tender will add further to the momentum of CyanConnode, when they are eventually awarded.

No telling exactly when that will happen. But no doubt there will be some peak's and trough's along the way.

From the IntelliSmart report I posted on Friday, there is a map included on page 7, that details the areas predominantly in Northern India, except for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, that IntelliSmart are delivering on the smart meter programme. Namely Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam ( recently ) and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Last week I posted a tweet from CyanConnode India, showing the 8 states that CyanConnode have alread installed electric smart meters. These are mainly down the west coast, central and south eastern India, with IntelliSmart and CyanConnode each having a foot-hold in Rajasthan, with installations for CyanConnode in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

It was Colourbounce who quoted the 100,000 meter installation figure at 09:23 this morning, it was Colourbounce who answered at 16:44 this afternoon and it was Colourbounce who I mentioned in my 17:11 post this afternoon. Why you are dragging yourself into the conversation is beyond me.

And why you take this opportunity to again inform us/me that " As I have said many times though I am more than comfortable with my position," it does not interest or concern me what position you are in.

I know tonyj, Pedro and a few others, as I have spoken to them personally. I know who they are. Yourself and Colourbouce specifically, are just names on a bulletin-board. I do not know you.

So forgive me, if I do not take any notice of the last 5 lines of your 17:26 post.

IntelliSmart provided an end of year report, dated March 2022, which included some smart meter installation information .

From the report:-

" Achieved total installations of ~8 lakh smart meters in FY 2022 overcoming many challenges like pandemic."

" Achieved highest installation rate of more than 1 lakh smart meters per month."

So, 800,000 ( 8 lakh ) smart meter installations during FY 2022 = an average of 66,666 per month. Not 100,000 per month. So it looks like they achieved 100,000 per month during 1 month, of FY 2022.

Not " ..... given IntelliSmart are installing circa 100,000 every month now ...... " as was mentioned earlier today.
