RE: Directors Talk16 Dec 2025 22:31
Good evening Safety1,
And thank you for the Directors Talk link, it is appreciated. We know how difficult it is to get the Directors Talk reports to " Travel " but I will just relay, if you do not mind, the report:-
From the report:-
" A structural change is underway in India's power sector and it is happening at the meter level. With over 47 million smart meters now installed across the country, the shift from manual billing to digital, data-driven infrastructure is no longer theoretical. It is happening at scale and it is changing how power is delivered, monitored and monetised.
" Smart meters bring real-time visibility into energy consumption at every point in the distribution chain, from house-hold level to feeder and transformer level. This visibility changes how power is managed. Utilities can track usage patterns instantly, identify losses faster and improve the accuracy of billing.
" Much of the rollout is being delivered through public-private Partnerships, with service providers responsible not only for supplying the meters, but also for operating and maintaining the underlying software and systems. This model aligns capital efficiency with long-term performance incentives, creating an ecosystem where multiple players stand to benefit.
" The introduction of prepaid smart meters transforms how utilities get paid. Revenue collection is no longer reliant on paper bills, manual readings or delayed payments. Instead, consumers top up balances in advance, while utilities gain real-time updates on usage and cash flow."
An interesting read and thank you again, Safety1.
Good Luck.
LTI.
