I would have preferred a 50/50 split on special divi and buyback, but net debt down to 2.3b..that will be wiped out at the next trading update, the market should like these figures...

DG, based on the visible alpha markets estimate of a $3b interim dividend, and using the 2021 interim divi of $0.5b (paying 0.04cents p/s) as a guide, the estimated $3b should pay 24 cents per share...seems quite high, but the EBITDA & income figures are astonishingly high....I hope their estimates are correct. Roll on 07.00 tomorrow.

It does seem like they are trying to dampen the expectant levels of the special divi, having previously ramped it up with the announcement of record trading profits...i'm still expecting good news next week on based the high copper prices have only dropped in the last month of H1 period and other commodity prices oil, coal, wheat, etc have remained at near peak levels....for last few years, other miners paid big divis, while Glen was weighed down with massive debt and investigation scandals filling up the office in-tray....but not no more, regardless of what divi is announced next week, Glen is in a strong position to ride out any industry headwinds, and then profit from the following growth period.

At least no significant cut in full year production guidance, which is always the worry with these reports, AAL produced a far more negative report the other day and with a cut in divi, and the sp rose nearly 4%....it's a shame that a loss of life was recorded, at least it was shown in the first statement and not buried in the last paragraph, this reminds me that this is still a dangerous industry, which can easily be forgotton when tapping away on our phones....

DG, hopefully it won't be far off from that figure and generally as per your estimate a few days ago.
Debt should be reduced further, more buybacks....and they have no fines to pay this year....

One would have to assume that the same inflationary, labour shortage, covid issues affecting AAL& RIO would also affect GLEN....but as others have stated already, the trading division profits due next week will hopefully cover any gaps in the production report...disappointing with divi cut by AAL,RIO as i hold both, but they have consistently paid out substantially higher divis than GLEN, so perhaps now the divis will be similar. Trading oil and producing coal will hopefully save the day for GLEN, who would have thought that 2 years ago....

Roofer, spot on, solid investment this, and clearly the saudis agree. my last 2 tops at 176 in march and a few weeks ago for 183 were unusally well timed for me, normally i buy too soon, and it falls further soon after. If i remember correctly, schoders took a look at MNG just over a year ago, hope this avoids getting swallowed up by a bigger fish at a low price, as the divis are part of my long term divi income.

When i tuned into last nights debate, i thought it was the apprentice, no-hopers arguing for their plummeting careers, and it was best summed up by Rishi asking Truss "was she more embarressed being a member of lib dem or being a remainer", It was a completely childish and pointless question.
Only rishi and truss have any relevant experience for the top job, it would be a huge gamble to appoint any of the other 3 candidates.

Qz, i do need a new bike, mine is a merida and is a piece of junk, it needed a new chain set after less than 12 months (cheap soft metal parts from china), it goes back to my previous rant about the UK not manufacturing enough components, never seemed to have this trouble with soft metal parts wearing EVER on raleigh bikes in the 70's,80's & 90's, and due the rising inflation/commodity costs, Halfords never have the sale on bikes like they used to..ah well, I can use my sons boardman bike for the next few weeks as he's back from uni, but spending the next 3 weeks in france in a language course...well i did pay for it..

Qzqz, Itv 4 always do the tour justice, and the scenery helps.....i usually take all my hols in france , but my fav tour stages was when yorkshire hosted it, i live in the midlands, but yorkshire looked beautiful, and all the locals lined the roads...the french couldn't have done it better...i cycle 4 miles everyday to work, but at my previous job, it was a 15 mile cycle to work, with big hills, but only when the weather was decent, but always enjoyed, it cycling through the countryside (b roads only), that was 13 years ago....couldn't do it now!!!!

At least the US markets have perked the last few weeks, hopefully we are at or near the bottom now. Been topping my divi shares on each significant drop in the market, but now running out of cash....cashed in a few safer stocks last week to fund the top-ups.
Looking forward, my main concern is how will germany fare this autunn/winter if russia cuts off the gas. No gas = no power = no factories open, which will kill any chance of growth in europe, especially the UK as we don't manufacture components, just assemble parts together these days.....merkels cosying up to putin these last few decades could have consequences unimaginable only 6 months ago....

Been invested here for approx 4 years firstly at 4.3p and then averaging down. Managed to add another 4k on tuesday, but never went all in. So now happy to average up, now the project is hugely derisked. It could go lower again, but the risk/reward ratio is astonishing with 20 months till first product.

Managed to free up some cash last week selling some defensive stocks, so bought AAL, MNG and GLEN at £4, they could go lower, but It didn't feel right holding cash and seeing the carnage unfold without buying....see what tomorrow brings....

With all miners taking a hit on their SP's, it will be interesting to see if this leads to any industry M & A's. Glen was a supposed target for BHP, and Glen themselves stated they were looking for a new aquisition with all the free flowing cash generated in the last 12 months.....i guess everyone is waiting for the bottom before piling in.....

Glen down nearly 20%, AAL down nearly 30%. My 20% profit on AAL is now a 10% loss in only 3 weeks.
Been adding to my HZM holding today, and may sell some defensive stocks to load up some more.
If the low share prices persist for another few months, i'll be adding more with divi payouts.

Qzqz, £2+ a litre of petrol should help....but the last 6 months in industry have been very quiet.
I work for a small multi national company manufacturing bespoke hydraulic systems for Tata, british steel, GE, Rolls Royce and other heavy industry and see this as a barometer of the wider picture. We have plenty of enquries, but not many orders.....possibly projects aren't being sanctioned due to higher costs, for example, would Boris have sanctioned HS2 at todays costs?
