Today's broker upgrade will do no harm either. SSE is finally being recognised by the market as a major renewable energy player, rather than a dull utility.

CWR is down even more than ITM today, so it seems to be a sector-wide drop. Such is life......

Boris Johnson admitted not that long ago that he didn't understand the science of climate change so I suppose we shouldn't expect too much. Now he and his cronies seem not to understand the importance of green, as opposed to blue and grey, hydrogen - no great surprise there either. The frustrating thing is that they don't realise what first-mover advantage confers on a national economy and, by the time they do, the UK will have missed the boat yet again.

Plug Power may have won this impressive contract but it doesn't seem to have done much for its share price.

Jeffries are certainly bullish on green hydrogen, even if the market still has doubts. Time will tell who is right but meanwhile we await firm orders, which are the main factor that will drive the share price higher.

Clued, I agree that plenty might happen before 2023/4 and the Times article hints at that. Some income investors will already have started baling out of this share but others will hang on in the hope of some corporate action.

The dividend cut took the market by surprise and will have spooked some income investors. Those that have waited may reap the future benefits of capital growth but that is always a less certain outcome. The Times article today suggests that the game may not be over however and that the SSE board have not made an altogether convincing case for keeping the company as one unit. We shall see.

Bilbo not much has changed has it? As you say, we still await serious orders and the shares will not move up appreciably without those. The hints from the company and other observers that significantly more electrolyser manufacturing capacity will be needed than was previously expected is a positive sign. Let's hope they know something that we don't.

You did read it correctly Lutra. I can't imagine that this will be well received by investors, the second dividend cut in the space of a few years, but we'll see.

Always a difficult call MrMath - DGE has been my largest holding for a while now, despite having offloaded some shares a few years ago. My feeling is that it's as safe a company as you can possibly get so I'm happy to hang on to the rest of the holding, even if it keeps appreciating in value. They have top quality management and strong market presence in a reliable industry with long term growth potential and you can't really ask for more than that.

I couldn't agree more. In no other market could you borrow someone's assets, without their express permission, with the sole purpose of devaluing those assets. The problem is that the financial institutions make too much money from it for the authorities to outlaw the practice.

He was on the Today programme this morning banging the drum for green hydrogen. Like many of us, he's frustrated by the UK govt's preference for the blue version.
