CFB, yes Tesla have a camera housed in the rear view mirror stem but the camera is at least a few years old, the ECU at least that and the camera hasn't been switched on as you say.

It'll take some software update to monitor the driver in any meaningful way. Also since it's not chip based there has to be dedicated hardware to do the visual processing. Or they could just add it to the processing time of the hardware they use for the radar, other camera systems etc but thats probably not a great idea.

Most Tier1's and OEM's are stressing over the processing power they need to do it right in cars coming on to production in 2020. If and when Tesla do switch the camera on and if they want to collect the data then there are privacy issues which would be substantial - that's why it has been mentioned that Fleet are the only way to collect data in any meaningful form.

Differing opinions of the RNS this morning.
Personally I like it.
1. It's a marker out to those retrofit companies like Denso etc who have just brought out / are to bring out a product.
2. This is the history behind the algorthms that are being refined every day that will feed into the FOVIO chip which don't forget will be implemented in to ALL the verticals.
3. Big data is so valuable and SEE have it in spades.
4. Yes we need an update on Fleet etc but until that comes I have no problem with SEE bragging about what is availble to a buyer or a large strategic investor.
5. What they are saying to our auto competitors - how many real world miles have they clocked up. How many real alerts have they analysed and recoded for?

Robbie, I believe you are correct. SEE have worked with others and using the software method and if an OEM really wants to use this then it can be done - it would be considered old school, plus needs hardware specific chips to run on rather than a dedicated chip like fovio..... IMO.

As maplinman stated the note is a "here's our take on the good news" before a fundraise which they have said will happen.

I would be totally convinced that if one of our brokers was minded to, a note counteracting all of the points raised by Vicktor would be easy enough to write. But then again - our brokers are a bit silent at the moment for some reason. Not a peep even when Ford was won.

Not sure why Vicktor says that some OEM's might want to change hardware particularly as he seems to believe that a platform win would last for 10 years. I cant see an OEM after 2 years saying lets change hardware for the ECU and other bits just for the sake of it...

If anyone is concerned about OEM's not liking using Xilinx chips read this as a counter arguement to Viktors note. Also have a look at the picture - Apparently Xilinx chips in 2018 are used in 29 makes covering 111 car models.

Opti, nothing is set in stone. Hence SEYE working with autoliv for 14 years only for autoliv to choose a different partner and look where that has led ....so far. Your comment of "Personally I think that is where the main automotive revenues will end up(Smarteye)" is somewhat bizarre. Both are going to get parts of the dms market. Your first couple of posts on the SEE board bigging up SEYE does you no service at all. You seem to know a lot about SEYE now but only some things about SEE from way back. I wish both companies well. You dont seem keen to talk about SEE auto wins or any of the other verticals that they are involved in. SEE is indeed more than a one trick pony. Best wishes in whatever investments you have.

5. EU legislation announcement
6. FOVIO chip clearly now in play
7. CEO leaves
8. New CEO and Chairman

Seems a bit strange - just checked the last RNS and they are still listed as a joint broker. Why are CG so silent considering the above?

Poom, if you are suggesting that some LTH's have turned to day trading by suggesting SEE should really be a bit more open then I think you are way off the mark. They are clearly asking for a fleet update to clarify what exactly has happenend in the last quarter and since. Not too much to ask.

Glandore - I agree without the breakdown it is hard to see but the fit out of the nice new offices probably cost a pretty penny! I'm no expert but I'm sure they've done it well.
