How would they get to the other end? We are surrounded by swampland, so how do heavy trucks and fully laden water tankers cross that terrain without an ice road? Curious. Someone mentioned they could have been left by BP. Depends whether they had any value I suppose.

As for my reply to you, I just wanted to point out that there are various stops and starts to add/change drillbits, logging gear, cement seals, etc - often needing all gear being hauled back to the surface. That figure of 900 feet in 3 days brobably included 1 day for the cemented top seal to harden. There are peeps with drilling experience on this bb who would be more authoritative than me.

The deeper you go the slower it gets when the gear has to be withdrawn to change the drill bit or seal a joint with cement, so an average rate is a bit meaningless.

We may get news of the spud and first target in the same RNS, especially if the spud happens on Thursday in Alaska and the Announcement first hits ASX on Monday 4 days later.

If the distance brtween Deadhorse and the start of iceroad is aroynd 30 miles and the Dalton is to be closed for 36 hours over 3 days, that means a vehicle travelling at 1mph, or thereabouts, could just about make the trip in the time alloted. Does anyone know of a vehicle that moves at that speed, and neefs to use the Dalton around thosr dates...... hmmmm! It's a tough one!

DD, you could get a job there treating bed sores - after all prevention is better than cure.

If it was my call, I would get the accomodation, generators and other site equipment in there first. That way the site can be commissioned while the rather wide rig unit trundles down the road. When it gets there all the teething problems with electrics, heating and floodlighting will be sorted.

My point is, if they could get the trucks to the other end, why would they need an ice road?

De la Rue (Basingstoke) had the license to print money, but when the BoE switched to plastic notes, they went to some European outfit - so English notes are not printed in England, I suspect Scottish notes are printed in the same place, as they all have to be recognised by auto-counting machines. I detest the plastic notes that will not flatten once creased, someone I know decided to use a steam iron to flatten a couple of twenties - not the sharpest tool in the box. She managed to scrape of a piece with a serial number and awaiting response from Barclays LOL.

Somewhere I picked up on a mid-Feb spud but more recent RNS's just say Feb. - so could be a bit later than was in my mind. A couple of days trundling down the ice road then maybe a week or so to get set up for the rig and other gear. I imagine we will het an update by Friday regarding permit and schedule.

I'm hoping this time we will hit the big time, but as for your 4p comment, as I recall, that was before we had the result. I hope we get to that level once the fourth target is reached and surpasses it by some margin when the flow results are reported. We are but days away from moving the heavy gear to the pad, so the sp will gain ground after that. Glad made a few bob from 88e, I did not as my target was not reached, but we should be in a different position in 6-8 weeks and maybe my revised target (higher) will be surpassed.

English money is made in Llantrisant along with other UK coinage. The manufactoring process and materials are the same but the English coins go through the polishing machines twice, so they pay 5% more. The Scots get a 5% discount because they polish them by keeping them in their sporrans for 6 months before spending them, by which time they have a mirror like sheen anyway. The Welsh and Irish just take them in standard form. I believe notes are printed somewhere in Europe these days, using recycled plastic food containers.
