If on Thursday Erik sends a report "The crew went through Indigo an Charlie like butter, last night" it will already be Friday in Perth, probably too late for DW to get his bulletin approved. I doubt he would announce in London on a Friday as Aussies would complain about the 2 day gap before Asx opens - so most likely news on Mon/Tues IMO.

We already know what would be on the schedule, so it is of limited use. We are 9 days into a 30 day programme and Indigo penetration is imminent - unless there has been a technical hitch (which would not have been on the schedule anyway). No doubt BP had a schedule, but I doubt it said "Day 17 Drill Jams, Pack up tools, Return to Jail"

Most PIs still have a tight grip - ony 16m shares chaged hands so far (32m trades) which could just be 1 big holder. I think it will stay that way until 1.2p or above, then it will snowball.
I would not be surprised to get a dual purpose RNS covering Indigo & Charlie on Monday but would not rule out Thursday night (ASX) this week.

Just remember when the market opened here this morning, it was still Monday in Alaska. My own feeling (little more than guesswork) is that the drill will cut into the Indigo target Tuesday-Wednesday Alaska time. Just like baiting a hook, they have to haul up the drill to attach the logging gear, then lower it down a mile-long hole when they get near the target area - these stop/start interludes happen frequently, which is why we should not expect a constant rate of descent. Any schedule that may or may not be updated is only a rough guide. Some rocks are harder than others, so geology may dictate what type of drillbit is most efficient at certain intervals. Lots of variables means that scheduling is a black art, and not as predictable as a trip down a motorway.

I believe it has already been mentioned by one of our oily contributors that spudding and top seals happened over the weekend and drilling started 6am on 2nd March.

Squelching

So would I be in the right ballpark to suggest that by noon today, we will be within 500 feet of Indigo? If so, tomorrow afternoon we will be squekching our way through the oil sodden first target, however with the Charlie target so close I would not be surprised if the next RNS covered both - will DW break with tradition and spill the beans on LSE first (Thurs?) or hold off until Friday on ASX - stay tuned for the next thrilling instalment.

Tend to agree that this caught Putin napping. Once the consequences have been condidered, he'll be back at the table and poo will start to climb once countries use up the cheap oil they will buy in yhe nect few days.

Hope to see some +ve news mid week . Indigo is not expected to be a good stand alone target, but will be a useful top-up for the Torok targets - icing on the cake.

I'd forgive Erik if he was to pour a couole of pints of GTX down the hole when we get to Indigo. I was going to say a couole of gallons, but that could force a CR :-)

Probably puts us on a par with ASX close. Unlike yesterday, maybe they van push us up a notch to make it up.

The problem with big outfits like BP is the 5-year plan. With the drill breaking down, they had to get off the ice before the thaw, so had no time for a second attempt.
Let's hope we have no mechanical issues (always a risk), but on the plus side, we have 3D seismic data (not invented when BP was there) - we also have the combined know-how of our own Directors and Consultants, Bex and PMO experts, plus of course the data from BP themselves, as well as similar plays from our neighbours (everybody needs good neighbours).
I would not be surprised to find out that they will want to drill down into the HRZ themselves, should our results at that depth turn out to be juicy.
Yes, we are in a different world to the days when BP assembled their rig on site, having transported in via pack horses - with a long set-up time, it meant the drilling window would have been shorter - that coupled with the 5-year plan, which meant they could not reschedule within the next few years would have meant it went on the back burner, and never came off it.
Let's forget about BP's experience, this is NOW - no comparison !
