COdey - please let me rephrase that. Charts are NOT useless because of news. Saying that demonstrates a lack of understanding of good charting.
Charts just do not always have clear patterns to identify. It happens when it's quiet or when there are plenty of news.
Charts are solely based on the actual trades that happen. But one can interpret them in different ways.

And a fund signing off a material long is not the same as an II being long for the short-medium term.

Don't you think that the "money men" are not under pressure from their clients etc. to deliver returns all year long, and that they think they can get away with explaining to their clients that they missed a chance to give them a few % on their quarterly or yearly P/F returns because they were on holiday in August?!?!

We cannot, but some IIs and individuals with special rights can. It comes with much much higher spreads and uncertainty of quotes.

elise3107 - for example, Armada's post is factual incorrect: the time logged for each trade is after 16:30. So those trades were executed after close, not during the trading hours. They could have been ordered (likely IMO) during the trading hours, but they were officially executed at the time logged.

elise3107 - please keep in mind that most people on this BB and Twitter (that includes me) know very little. There is a lot of BS, sometimes not even driven by bad intentions.
I have personally had evidence of an apparently knowledgeable poster actually being totally wrong about the nature and/or reasons behind some trades logged (on another share).
And remember everyone's anonymous, and there's money involved so everyone (whether consciously or not) has an agenda.
Hence always ask for evidence / sources etc. whenever a claim is made. Even asking for a chart when somebody claims that there is a downtrend - a chart is not proof, but it's a start.

Those could be sells ordered earlier today after the SP broke through a resistance that the holder had set itself. Those could be due to the client of an II who got spooked and ordered everything sold (a bit like GAM that sold all its bonds at a massive loss a few days ago) earlier today...
..and a big trade can take a little while (hours even) to be executed.

I sold when it reached my mental stop loss and bought back soon after - I lost about 1.45% of my holding in the process.
