RE: Brexit litigation10 Aug 2019 11:01
Probably not, because Brexit will not so much lead to a change of laws (which normally causes disputes about how the new laws should be interpreted) but rather to the complete disappearance of a those laws, as well as a lot of the legal, business and logistical infrastructure. So the likely options for a business that would normally be a client of Burford, to exaggerate a bit, would be to get out (of involvement in the UK) altogether (many key jobs and organisations have been moved to the continent already) or build massive figurative walls to isolate oneself from the likely chaos to come (eg stockpiling).
It’s a very extreme representation, but it’s to help clarify how Brexit is causing issues of a different nature which will probably not lead to increases litigation in UK courts.
