Anyone looking at a daily candlestick chart will see that today's candle + wick almost looks like a hammer. That's probably the strongest signal of reversal in a downtrend. If that shape stays roughly like that at the end of today, a substantial rise (I cannot quantify it exactly) ought to happen over the rest of the week at least.

Rachel - as pointed out by CJ, MW is not a regulatory or NGO acting for the goodness of market governance. They are just here to make as much money as they can by any means necessary.

My highly speculative theory is that the price decreased when everyone who fraudulently profited from the drop and rise back sold in panic after seeing Burford's RNS re: stock market manipulation, which was issued very very quickly - I thought it would have taken Burford at the very least a week. Not a long weekend!

It's possible that the quick exists from those people are used by Burford and the FCA as additional sources of data to identify the perpetrators... but that's mostly speculation from me!

Guys, please do some basic research. It was proven that there had been fraud at Quindell.

If you'd bothered reading MW's report vs the information available, nothing had been hidden by Burford, as reiterated during Friday (or Thursday?, can't recall...) call and the note issued by the company.

Even Gotham City treaded carefully, probably because Daniel Yu there were no actual improprieties. Unlike Quindell.

Flappingchicken - I confused "accessory" and "vicariously liable", duh... what my post meant otherwise:
"MW claims that it does not the capacity to do the form of (fraudulent) trading that Burford has pointed out, but it ought to be obvious to anyone that MW could have easily tipped off someone with that trading capability, a point about which MW is silent. As if such tipping off were inconceivable. And if MW did tip off someone else, MW would then be an accessory to the crime in question."

For MW to write "smack them down hard" and call a Columbia a university professor a "supposed expert" reeks of desperation.
And MW conveniently ignores the obvious possibility that it could have tipped off somebody with that trading capability in question, making MW vicariously liable under English law.

Burford's case looks even stronger.

Taking into account NK's purchases, I view the max for TCG at anything between 9 and 9.50 - my very very very very rough guesstimate of the highest price paid by NK. So that's definitely not a victory for the countless people who bought well above that.

It's just a trading share IMO.

US people who trade in European shares do so during European trading hours, i.e. they would have bought at the normal times and they work unsocial hours. So I would not expect a material change in the SP of ANY UK-listed company during US trading hours.
The only way I have seen impacted is indirectly, when the SP of a company is influenced by the price of a commodity (or equivalent) which is traded in the USA, but this does not apply to Burford here.

And how much did Stobart and Virgin pay for their shares in FlyBe in the previous 6 months (IIRC the time limit)? If they didn't buy any during the prescribed period, then they can offer anything they want.

That theoretical consortium cannot include NK and then be allowed to bid for a lower price than he'd paid.
That would not cut the mustard with the FCA. Otherwise, the law would be way to easy to bypass.

So IF NS plans to bid for TCG (I think he does considering the amount of money he's already sunk in it.), it should not be lower than that.

Basically, I think the max we can expect is the max price paid by Neset Kockar, so anywhere in the 9s. It's because that is the legal minimum he has to bid for, and in the absence of an actual bidding war (he said 1-2 weeks ago in the Bloomberg interview that he was actually talking to Fosun, so no apparent competition), why would he pay more than that?!

Thanks for the comments about Gotham. But its report was just a cop-out from them, Daniel Yu of Gotham probably knew he'd be in hot water if he repeated anything like MW's claims.

I suspect that all manipulators who bet on the bounce on Thursday have been exiting in panic after Burford's amazingly fast investigation RNS, which might explain the drop. My highly speculative theory is that it was deliberate, to allow Burford to gather even more data to help it identify the perpetrators and their accomplices...

I'm just lying back and letting it climb back to the 1400s if not above.
