There are a bit too many assumptions on this board - admittedly, JL's misplaced tweets and Colin's "frugality" with the info don't help.

I suspect (but am no means certain) that JL dug himself into a hole. I'll give it a couple of weeks for him to find a way to save face without harming Ascent's prospects (probably with Colin's co-operation in helping to find a solution).

If nothing by then, I will be one of the biggest activists - and the extent of my share holding is large enough to be convincing...

Without a proper tech analysis, I definitely would not make such an assumption.

Remember Glencore that kept on dropping for a while back in late 2015...

IF JL's intervention is indeed based on a genuine overraction to the way the 8th August meeting took place, I suspect he might just wait for 2-3 weeks, claim he's commissioned some investigations and that he's slapped a few wrists, then allow the permits to be finally awarded.

The "resignation" of the Arso director still feels waaaay to over-the-top and makes wonder if it's not due to different issues - maybe because he was actually found to be genuinely corrupt?

I would not assume that this dismissal was due to those assurances.

Scott- if you check RNSs all the way back to 2016, you will see that a court and Arso decisions against the award of the permit were made in totally unambiguous conflict with Slovenian law.
Then a (now formerly) NGO was allowed to slow down the process. And then a mysterious "individual" who may or may not have been connected to the NGO was also able to slow down the process.

One can only guess that it is in WH Ireland's rules to short all stocks that WH Ireland is invested in, maybe because it has to follow the rules of a hedge fund (which "hedges" its bets, hence the name.).

Again, around 67k shares shorted is a ridiculously piddly amount, as pointed out below. It seems to be purely symbolic, and we should not worry about IMO...

Now that he can raise money to help weather storms, CH is not forced to put a low offer to shareholders. For all we know, he may well have refused low ones, he is not obliged to reveal all offers.

If a sale or a JV, it will be submitted to the shareholders first - this was the content of the relevant RNS(s) regarding the strategic review.

Reposting my earlier message which got deleted probably because shorters didn’t like my statement... Two of the big buys of today are mine. There are several reasons why I am heavily invested here, but much more recently, the outcome of last week’s vote gives Ascent some teeth. And Colin still responds to emails fast and professionally. I personally believe that Ascent will be out of the current mess sooner rather than later.

Dcrossland - I would not go that far as saying it did normal journalism. My understanding (partly based on the contents of the letter from Ascent’s lawyer) is that the website first told that Ascent shareholders sent those threats as if it were an unquestionable fact. That site did not even add “allegedly” or “according to so and so”... That lawyer’s letter underlines that that website just read angry tweets (from unofficial usernames) and drew its own big conclusions from it, without any additional checks. So there was no form of distance which one would associate with the approach of publishing two sides of a story. That online publication may well have published the selected contents of that letter (without any additional comments) in the hope that it will be enough not to get sued...

No backtracking from the publication, it just said that it was publishing the key points of the letter from Ascent Slovenia's lawyer at they received them.
It does not say "we are wrong" or "we never made those claims".

His job description does not require to attend - he is environment minister, not a trade / finance one.

I doubt this event is on his calendar, although I'm sure he will try to find out if anything has been said about the permits from any of the participants.

I've just increased my holding by around 20% (obviously my big buy was red on the list of trades!), the rise is sustained in spite of a bad spread.
