I have to say that my view is the same as several posters on here today. I side with LTHCine about statements being put out to swing the markets but I also happen to believe that the press are guilty of sensationalism in trying to create headlines. Its their next story. There may also be an element as some suggest of Govt. scaremongering to get people to still remain extra vigilant and also to get those who haven't had the vaccine to get it.

The PM has made the decision to reopen everything. That is happening, and on the data supplied at the time that that decision was made it is hard to argue otherwise. The numbers are far better than anyone would have guessed at the beginning of the year and the Sage modelling has been proven to be completely wrong on all fronts. Embarassingly and massively so.

Ultimately though it is the statistics that will speak for themselves. No opinions, no skewed interpretations. Just raw data.

Lets turn to todays stats.

*Contrary to what you would expect of infections rising they are instead noticeably down from most of last weeks daily stats.
*Deaths remarkably are still in single figures
*Hospitalisations are still very low at just over 100 (103).

Presumably you would think that EMAN selling bums on seats, merchandise and advertising space in the exact same market as ourselves and a close competitor would find itself down 6% today like ourselves.

Not so. Only down 0.85% and covered by the spread and the differential on reopening news now stands at about 25% . They have gone up about 10% in the run in to reopenings whereas CINE has retreated about 15%.

Not a bulletin board post over there either since the 14th April. There's a lot to be said for those quieter bulletin boards and those invested.

I see the Dow in the end finished up 456 points at the closing bell and in so doing reversing most of the previous days falls.

Fortunately all the shops and website will be taking money today.

Whilst the markets play red all CARD shops open for business and keep the tills ringing.

Saihaj it's more red here than miners, airlines, tech, you name it.

Point is that we are opening irrespective of whatever the markets excuse for a shake up and between £6 and £10 for a 2D cinema ticket is peanuts

Bad day in America yesterday, but AMC Entertainment actually went up. Everyman Media down 0.48% and still up about 10% ion reopening news. Haven't even given back the AGM uncertainty drop pre AGM yesterday.

Fortunately topped up a few and the intention is to now shut up the screen on all stocks for a couple of weeks and to actually go out and enjoy some of the many movies that are out there and to enjoy those new found freedoms with a staycation.
