RE: Audiences 75-80% of Pre-Covid Levels @Vue8 Aug 2021 20:22
You have to laugh sometimes at the desperation on here off the day traders and the non-holders.
The head of Vue cinemas, who is now the Chair of the BFI goes public with an extremely good interview on so many fronts and states only this weekend that at Vue they are seeing
"A million customers a week have flocked back to his company's 227 cinemas around the world since reopening in May. Audiences are now between 75 and 80 per cent of pre-Covid levels,
That's in 9 countries and fully aware that his publicly made comments can be subjected to much higher levels of scrutiny than you will ever find on here (By the press, by Govt, etc). Yet you still find pseudo accountants trying to compare two weeks data in the UK to try and dispel his claims. What seems to be missing is the data for the 8 other countries that Mr Richard's has made mention of.
His statement refers to operations in 9 countries. (and Wikipedia confirms this)
" Vue International, is a multinational cinema holding company based in London, England. It operates in the United Kingdom, with international operations in: Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, and Taiwan under several brands.
A few pertinents
*3 of those countries directly overlap with CINE, notably the UK, Ireland and Poland.
*The other VUE countries are predominantly Europe based and the 75% to 80% attendance levels is all the more striking given some of those European countries are only emerging from what was supposedly a 3rd wave (Germany, Italy etc)
* On a direct comparison with CINE it is probably as good a comparitor as you will come across. Cine's UK + Ireland and Rest of the World territories, which equates to circa 27% of the overall business, includes the UK, Ireland our RoW / European countries which span Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, and Israel. So not too dissimilar.
* The US where CINE have it's 3rd territory of operation and which accounts for circa 73% of our business, Vue do not operate in, so no aspersions can be levelled in the slightest that they will be stealing any of Cine's business in the US :)-
I'll take this gents comments any day of the week over any anonymous poster on a bulletin board posting supposed maths.
Read the article for yourself from start to finish and I would suggest you delve into some of your posters history on here to get a flavour of where they sit.
75% to 80% attendance levels is a lot higher than many would have had you believe on here and it puts the cat amongst the pigeons and if Mooky can come out with anything vaguely similar on the 12/8 then it is not hard to see that the share price is nowhere near 75% to 80% of it's pre-pandemic levels.
80 films also to squeeze into 12 to 18 months to get it back to 100% and Bind should blow the cobwebs away.
