"A floating oil platform Aoka Mizu has arrived at the Lancaster field, though it has hit a few snags getting anchored to the buoy. "
Bet the crew are surprised!
Next Weds eve,
Windy.com
1.6m waves, 1.4m swell around midnight.
Weds pm - Thurs am looks like almost 24 hours of suitable weather.
Get the f'er hooked up and then RNS it 7am next Friday....
I want them to get the bugger put together and then show us a clip of it working!
:-)
AD
"Certified elongation and break testing of rope up to 1.1-million pounds (= 498 tonnes) and sample lengths of up to 50 feet" - Samsonrope. com ?
Guess that would be a reason for the oft quoted 2-3 week delivery on the rope?
Nice low pressure still predicted for next Thurs.
Next Thurs/Fri looks good.
Would imagine that decent weather windows may crop up more frequently now, so once bitten twice shy and all that, they may elect to go for a really nice window..rather than a 'borderline' one if there's only a few (eg 7) days in it?*
*Not even going to mention the "R" word.
Bit less choppy than my local 33m pool on a Sunday morning during lane swimming.
High tide is 17:07 today in Cromarty and again 05:26 tomorrow.
We might see some action before Eggheads starts...
fjones;
I notice you have only started to comment on HUR recently, suggesting you *may* be hoping to buy more at lower price,? BP, VOD, FTSE100 are both down more than HUR.
Any delay now will be less of an issue as the weather improves WoS. Weds 6th March is looking even better for hookup, (1.6m waves). Opportunities will be more frequent.
"The Lancaster reservoir temperature is around 56o C and the bulk wax appearance temperature is between 33° C and 37° C.
Studies have shown that providing the flow per flowline is kept above 6,000 stb/d the temperature is sufficient to ensure that no wax is deposited."
HUR get a mention 51mins 55secs in

A poster on the other BB has Bristow flight taking 5 hours on Weds instead of 1.5 hours - Weds 1300.
Sounds like the AM will be somewhere different on Weds to where it is now......(e.g Lancaster).
IvaP
There was a direct correlation between AM heading to GLA and SP rise on the last hookup attempt.
Why do you think it will be different next time?
I bought 9000 of them on HL......
Given up waiting for 43p
Are we expecting 50p just before hookup again?
The cynic in me says it'll happen on Thursday and history will show:
"Hookup happened in Feb 2019" (....Just)
Given the forecast, if there are any logistical issues with getting rope from factory to Lancaster, there would be justification for greasing any palms that could assist.
I have not seen such a calm forecast all winter as there is for this Thursday/Friday coming.
(windy.com)
This Tuesday is going to get interesting...
They left as soon as the stock market closed!!!
Night of Thursday 28th looking very calm - as discussed with AD a few months back, if the AM is lit up like a Christmas tree they won't need daylight?
1.7m waves, 1.1m swell around midnight.
Best I've seen on windy.com in a few months, but then maybe these weather windows will occur more often heading into March?
"due to issues relating"
Both parties may be correct.
"Issues relating to" could mean anything....Financial/Staffing/Planning all of which could have been affected by hookup issues.
Maybe all will become clear in the Dr T autobiography one day? - Pretty sure it'd sell a few copies on here...

Couple of thoughts occurred to me...
1. Would the fact that the AM has been moored up for longer have allowed any additional tasks/maintenance/preparation work on board - knocking off a day or 3 once the buoy is hooked up?
Even if it's a case of crew and engineers fine tuning a few things, or would the AM have bare minimum number of humans on board each day, and even then, solely Bluewater staff?
2. "Redeployment of Aoka Mizu FPSO" lecture is fully booked, for tomorrow night. 130 attending. Will be interesting to see if any content makes it's way onto the www afterwards.
"To suit the field conditions, the hull of Aoka Mizu was strengthened, green water protections were added, and a new turret buoy and mooring system were constructed."
