Yes that's right STP, we'd had a couple of big payouts in the previous 2 years then the crash came in 2008 and they basically had to ask for the money back! It's been a fantastic long-term investment though, as you say.

From the tone of your message you know who it is Sam? If they're no longer planning to hold, I think it would be better in the long term for them to sell all their shares & move on. Once they've all cleared, we should get back on a positive footing.

Squeaky bum time! It occurs to me that, if the Grindrod deal is approved, it may take a little while for the market to join the dots between GRIND, TMI & TMIP, so might be a buying opportunity? I don't think it will have a huge impact if the vote goes the other way, since GRIND is already incurring the dual-listing fees.

One day soon, probably timed to coincide with "positive" news, Jeremy is going to consolidate you all out of the game (1 new share for every 1,000 existing), and issue new shares to himself, his family and his City pals to ensure he maintains a controlling interest. If you think you can stop that from happening, you are living in cloud cuckoo land. Check the history here since you don't appear to know it - he's done it before.

For anyone invested in RECI, can I recommend reading the report issued today? Specifically the Investment Manager's Report authored by Ravi Stickney, Portfolio Manager, Cheyne Real Estate. There's obviously tension between the RECI Board and the investment manager (Cheyne) wrt the dividend buyback strategy vs reinvestment of received funds in what Cheyne perceive to be very good investment opportunities. The tension isn't necessarily a bad thing, indeed you could argue it's very positive in some ways, but interesting to get an insight nonetheless.

The other significant issue for me is the dividend. Whilst EPS has increased from 9.0p to 9.6p, it still strikes me that the dividend at 12p currently is unsustainable. A reduction from 3.0p to 2.5p per quarter would seem prudent, but I don't think it will happen. We'll see at the end of the current quarter.

Re 16:38 post, this is the dilemma for me & I know for (some) other long-term holders. Personally I would rather SAR continues to Phase 2 in the hope of ultimately achieving results like your 16:28 posts demonstrate, rather than settling for what would still be life-changing amounts for holders, but not of the scale that could be derived by proving the efficacy in a Phase 2 trial with psoriasis patients. Someone else posted earlier about their personal experience with psoriasis, that also applies to a member of my extended family so perhaps that colours my judgement somewhat - I would love to see SAR come up with an effective treatment for psoriasis!

Basil - rubbish! Surely you can understand the difference between data which confirms the safety profile of a drug (which is the stage SAR is at) and the efficacy in treatment of an illness which your examples have achieved. SAR has yet to dose a single psoriasis patient yet ffs!

AndOnThisDay - yes I take your point, there are other players with similar products who have failed to achieve the safety hurdle, and in effect we start ahead of them in that sense with a similar class of drug. Accepting we still need to prove efficacy at Stage 2.

Correct nicely. I expect it to spike above that level (so 70p would be 100% rise from here) but not to settle above c. 50p. If you can give me an example of where confirmation of a safety profile in testing has underpinned a bigger increase than that, please let me know where. The £4.50 spike was created by HNWI's buying enough new shares to ensure the company was capitalised for 12-24 months, and for me that's more of a driver for the sp to rise than confirmation of a safety profile in testing that we all know already IS safe or they would have had to confirm it. This is, of course, all IMHO & accept others will see it differently.
