Another quality acquisition, The Guild and Fine & Country. The market approves, another sp breakout. Exciting times here, maybe room for a dividend upgrade by year-end?

Chunky after-hours trades and UT, closed at 6-year high of 182.8. Very encouraging. All-time high for PHTM was 194 so getting very close to that significant milestone now.

As ws says, it'd be nice to get some clarity on this from the company itself. Even if they haven't been informed they should be making their own enquiries. Potentially transformational news if progress/approval is confirmed.

In this context, I don't care about compounding or profit/loss, my example investment is in an ISA and generates a nice tax-free income at zero cost. I don't care if the profit on the sale was 3%, 300% or 3,000,000%, it makes not the slightest difference to me. I can see how it would if I was running a portfolio on behalf of someone else, but I'm not.

Alessandro, your broker might calculate your average using your formula, but I find those numbers next to useless. Mary is correct in her "real world" calculation of the true value of her holding. Take my TW. holding as an example. Following a 1/1 allocation @ 25p back in the day, I held 20,000 shares at an average cost of 20p. When the sp hit 80p I sold 1/4 of my holding (5,000 shares) to recover my £4k outlay. My remaining 15,000 shares are therefore free running . This is very different to how my broker values my holding, but that's irrelevant to me. I know the shares have effectively cost me nothing.

For what it's worth asher7, I'm certain there will be investors who make a lot of money from TRP. Problem is, there will be an awful lot more who will have been wiped out before that day arrives. Anyway, good luck, we're all very fortunate to be able to make our own investment choices and we stand or fall by them. I only post on here because I'm certain there are less experienced investors around who haven't got a clue about the risk they're taking. K

So it's farewell, adieu, goodbye & good riddance, frankly, to RF & PH. May they never darken our door again, either SAR or any other of my investments. But I can't be the only LTH to have ultimately benefitted from the chaos they caused. I now have 3 times the number of shares I held pre-PH/RF, a higher % of the enlarged company and a very healthy position looking forward to what this company could deliver.

Lesson learned? Be ready to take advantage of any opportunity that arises, however painful it may seem at the time. GLA. K

Good for you (two), well done. If you're now holding c. 640m shares between you, that's more than Jeremy. But a word of warning. He's pretty ruthless when it comes to maintaining control of TRP, because (like you & Kever) he believes in the company. So how will he protect his position? In the past, he's chosen to consolidate and place. So, let's assume the consolidation is 1/1,000 (comes out at about 16p, same as last time) so you & the missus would then own c. 640k (of 16m) shares. Then, he places another c.50m @ 10p, 10m of which he picks up himself, the rest distributed to his City pals. So he ends up with 10.6m/66m (c. 15%) and you will be left with 640k (c. 1%). That's how the big boys stay big boys.

Anyway, there's no guarantee that what's happened in the past will be repeated, and you will no doubt ignore this post because it doesn't fit with your get-rich-quick narrative, so good luck to you, and all on board the good ship TRP.

Looks like 20th June is the next key date re the Grindrod share reduction scheme, let's hope for a positive outcome so we can see some cost savings come through. Not enjoying the current SP drift here.

Have just had a look through the Q&A from the latest GSF presentation on Investor Meet Company. I didn't find anything re Energised vs Operational but it does include the following re dividends:

"While we do not forecast dividends, we can share that the Company has a progressive dividend policy, which is 7% of the average NAV of the period, subject to a target minimum of 7p."

Accepting that targets are just that, and are obviously not guaranteed, it still seems unlikely that we'll see a GRID-style dividend collapse.

If you click on the different maps there's a breakdown of operational vs energised assets for each country/state. Accepting these things can often be out of date in my experience so should probably be viewed as a guide rather than a definitive list.

On the company's website, Stony is listed as operational, Ferrymuir as energised. There are lots of assets that are listed by the company as energised but not yet operational: https://www.gsenergystoragefund.com/content/about/portfolio

The dividend paid clearly needs to remain within the limits imposed by Investment Trust status rules, but the company has nevertheless determined that the dividend paid will be based on the NAV, within those rules. See RNS dated 22 Mar 2022 for full details.

Thankfully there are no plans to change the trading names so the general public (customers) should be none the wiser.

"Singer Capital Markets’ sage Matthew McEachran forecasts sales of £89 million and £98.8 million for the years to January 2025 and 2026 respectively, with pre-tax profits estimated to rise to £1.8 million this year ahead of £2.1 million next.

Based on forecast earnings of 2p for full-year 2026, Angling Direct trades on a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 18, although the multiple drops to the single digits on an ‘ex-cash’ basis, which suggests the shares are a catch."
