Nevermind, a few more of those nonsensical blue hydrogen developments like "H2H Saltend" and maybe somebody in power here will realize we and the environment are being conned.

600MW of wind farm electricity to turn natural gas into hydrogen, in order to make "low carbon" electricity!

That's before they deal with the problem of the excess CO2, or even consider the amount of damaging methane leakage in the process.

Firstly I want to state that the following is nothing to do with Linde or ITM.

To switch Triton Power’s gas-fired power plant from fossil fuels to hydrogen, an Auto Thermal Reformer (ATR) of 600MW or more will need to be constructed to produce blue hydrogen. This will initially be blended at 30% (or higher) with natural gas in the Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) turbines at the power plant. Switching at least 30% of the natural gas to hydrogen will significantly reduce the emissions associated with power and steam production."

To paraphrase: Equinor have an electricity off-take agreement from Dogger Bank wind farm and plan to use that to power the 600MW ATR to make H2 from METHANE, using CCS to justify calling it BLUE H2. Then that BLUE H2 will be mixed (guess what with?) more METHANE to power the gas turbines of Triton's power plant, which makes: electricity.

Is this sort of project sanctioned by UK H2 strategy? An example of BLUE H2 and CCS justification? In which case it is worthy of a "Sir Humphrey Appleby" civil service award.

I've certainly had camping gaz canisters confiscated in the past, which rather takes the steam out of the holiday.

Didn't mind the full tank of red diesel though;)

petrol & diesel fires are pretty nasty too, and have a habit of spilling laterally and damaging the carriageway. At least if H2 leaks its buoyancy allows it to dissipate quickly.

However, I would not want to be on a ferry or inside euro-tunnel with a lot of BEVs:
