So just what are RR planning for the hydrogen economy? Marine power systems? Hydrogen powered flight systems, fuel cell or gas turbine? Or have they missed the boat!

ITM is mentioned in the recent PRES trading update:

"Three contracts for transport refuelling high-pressure storage were successfully completed over the past two years for customers including ITM Power and Haskel, with three further projects currently in production."

3 further projects, more H2 stations let us hope.

That and the "five-year framework agreement with Shell Hydrogen for their European refuelling stations" all sound promising.

On a positive note, I thought partnerships was what Nikola is all about. Working to create a 'vertical' market for the transportation side of the hydrogen economy. Supply, distribution, vehicles and customers... its the ends that matter more than the means. The vision that some governments seem to lack..

Most EV car manufacturers will be able to substitute batteries for fuel cells depending on demand... even Tesla! That demand will build as hydrogen refuelling infrastructure is rolled out globally for buses and trucks. O&G companies will want to participate maybe offering both green and blue hydrogen from their forecourts. I don't see that as a bad thing because it accelerates the H2 economy, which seems to be the best route to de-carbonization. Besides, I'd rather have a hydrogen leak on my raft than a bunch of heavy lithium ion batteries burn a hole through the floor;)

These Extreme-e vehicles weigh 1760kg! What is the point of lugging around all that battery weight, and needing a hydrogen tanker for resupplying the battery charger? Install a HFC in the cars and refuel them in minutes!

I've long thought that. Remember the frustration of a purchase with 'batteries not included' on the wrapper? Look around at the miriad of devices plugged in to their chargers. 'Sorry I've got to go now, my battery is running out'.. not what I want from a vehicle!

Shell's investment in the H2 economy will be matched by many other O&G companies, they cannot afford not to. The trend will be to green their (grey) blue H2 operations to become increasingly carbon neutral too. As we've seen, PRES and other pipeline and storage infrastructure specialists will benefit too.

An update on hydrogen projects would help attract and retain investors. Retrofit shipping power systems must be a major market.

It should be up anyway! There is further evidence of their commitment to decarbonization with news at ITM Power (Motive) of more H2 pumps on forecourts.
