RE: Loan1 Aug 2018 14:16
Borrowing money to purchase shares is not as ridiculous as it sounds actually.
If one assumes a growth over the next let's say a year and has access to cheap money at low or no interest then why not. I might borrow an amount that I'm comfortable with paying off in a year (I would have purchased the shares anyway If i had the money today), purchase shares now, enjoy the growth, sell enough to cover debt repayment and keep the difference (or even keep them all and use the money I earn monthly to pay off the debt as I go).
My point is that the SP e.g. 12 months may be very different in comparison to today's thirty something....It could easily be +25 or 50% and that's more than enough to cover any interest and still make money.
And most importantly by buying today at today's prices we buy more shares and that will be absolutely crucial at dividend stage.
Clock is ticking as someone said....And in SXX case the sooner, the better....If I had done it a few months ago when the SP was in it's twenties I would have made enough to cover any interest, enjoy some of the profits and still hold more than I hold today...
So If I bet on long term growth, dont plan to sell any time soon and plan to regularly top up anyway I might as well borrow to buy more today....
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
