We keep hearing about records bookings for cruise Lines yet I'm inundated with discounted special offers.

A bit of a contradiction it seems! K

From Southampton the options are Princess & Cunard ( CCL shares benefit)

Or like Al says, Celebrity. Disney , according to ageing friends was brilliant.

Then there's Fred, sailing from several ports or Saga , which the same Disney friends says was surprisingly good.

Make no mistake, I'm a big P&O fan. I've sailed on all ships several times and always enjoy the experience. I love the Arvia & Iona for their additional dining options. Over the years, I've noticed the change in passenger mix to what Learning politely calls Loud & Proud.

Land based holidays abroad have been more expensive than cruises since Covid so cruises appeal to a younger segment and P&O have targeted this market. K

Just heard from a pal on Arcadia WC. They have now officiallybeen told of rerouting to avoid The Gulf & Suez. Calls to Penang Colombo, Dubai Muscat, Suez and Malta cancelled . Now calling Mauritius, SA ( 3 ports) and Tenerife. She is due in Sydney soon where 900 pax will depart the ship. It is not known how many will join with the change in itinerary. Additional OBC has been added to accounts and a FCC as compensation for the inconvenience. Presume Cunard WC will be impacted the same as the Arcadia. K

Learning. The passengers mix is changing towards a younger mix. As the ships get bigger, they need filling so your passenger description is moving to smaller, boutique Lines. The Carnival ( and P&O here) are creating "Benidorm at Sea" K

Bhants, CCL is one of my keepers but it is a very frustrating stock, but should, with indicators be doing much better.

Actually, few of mine are pushing on, even the Insurers seem becalmed. None of my penny punts are doing anything but PREM shows signs of life. K

Topo, We always benchmarked a P&O balcony full fare at £100 pppn ( Ex Soton)

Despite the so-called lowerprice offers and aggressive marketing its hard to find a deal around that level today. The 20% off a drinks package is no interest to us. I think the earlier surge in bookings has tailed off and cruising is not the bargain, it was.
