I agree with most what you say but not sure about your last sentence.
I have cruised for many years, 3 or 4 per year and I've noticed a change in demographic of the passengers, particularly on our last 3 cruises which have been on P&O's largest vessels. Far more young people with families, many from, manual work backgrounds are trying cruising .All will pay rent or mortgages , services etc so I think it could impact.
This section of the market don't spend the same on board, they rarely use the premium restaurants or book tours. It is price sensitive as cost of cruising will be measured against bucket & spade party destinations costs.
These new cruisers want their holidays in peak times for work breaks etc but these ships work 365 days a year and need filling. North European destinations have little appeal in the
Winter so options from the UK are limited.
Cruises are no longer the domain of the higher income bracket so I think rising costs do impact cruiser.
