My mate in Dallas reckons Carnival US cruise prices there are about 12% higher this year and deals and discounts hard to come by. Another positive. K

They certainly are very popular with a certain segment of P&O cruisers. We sailed on both in 2019. I just think they are lacking something now, maybe the choice of restaurants particularly on the longer cruises. Arvia for us on Sept 3rd. K

Hi Bhants, glad you enjoyed Iona.

What struck me the first time on Iona and more recently Arvia was just how tired the older vessels are. Aurora is 23 and Arcadia 18 years old. Both well outside the Carnival target of 12 years average fleet. Both nice size ships but will P&O ever replace them like for like or will they go for a Excel size vessel. K

I hate to see P&O cruise ships going to Meyer Germany for refurbishment. Hopefully H&W can get some of that business with Sir Jon Band on the board. K

Bubble. Most cruise ships are more 100,000 Mt and 300m long. Can H&W Belfast handle duch vessels? Anyone know? K

I read this morning that Amsterdam is banning cruise ships to its City terminal. Heard similar noises from Dubrovnik and Barcelona pre Covid.

Venice already has size restrictions.

As ships get bigger the impact of 5000 pax descending on cities is becoming an issue.

The effects of crowding and pollution are measured against the financial benefits gained by cruise ship visits. Maybe it will be an issue in the future. K

Bots , Maybe IAG and indeed CCL here impacted by increasing interest rates ( another increase expected next week) Higher mortgages, less disposable income for travellers. K
