bhants, gone are the days when i would benchmark p&o prices for a deluxe balcony at £100 pppn.

i'm not sure about mr ludlow's strategy for a younger customer base. i noticed on arvia,that had lots of younger folks, that apart from buying expensive drinks packages they spent little else. rarely saw any in extra fee restaurants or doing the trips or buying in the shops, apart from futy free ***s and booze to take off. don't wish to sound an old fart but they are creating "benidorm on sea" which z retrograde step in my opinion.

Spanish " in port " tax has been a feature for some time. I wonder how the Spaniards audit it and the cynic in me wonders if the cruise lines cream some off? K

WO . Despite bookings at pre Covid levels and prices higher it will all depend on how much the debt mountain has been reduced.

Mixed messages from the US "experts" but I expect decent numbers and a modest rise in the SP.

on arvia recently i had a drink with a former shipboard "head of audit" i'd got to know on an earlier long cruise. i suggested on a 14 night cruise to the med, arvia would gross in the region of £10 million. average fares across the cabin range were approx £8.5m with drinks, speciality dining ( all fully booked ) and tours extra, he didn't disagree with my *** packet calculations. say she grosses £250m per year and iona similar plus the other 5 ships. i'd love so see the breakdown but it must be well in excess of £1 billion just for p&o. k

YR , when we started cruising we brought the average age down on board.

Last week on Arvia, it was great to see a lot of new cruisers and Ludlow was right the newbies want different things than us. Dining less important to them, the use hhe buffets or the diner type restaurants. Ludlow was wrong about the Sushi and plant based outlets, they were empty most nights as the target market won't pay extra for dining as likely they have spent £1500 on a drinks package. K

YR. In 15 years, I've never seen a CC discount from P&O. On our 2017 World Cruise there were a couple of ladies who had used Tesco points.

As to CCL SP , I can't fathom it but still holding a modest amount at break even but Mrs K still doing well as she averages £7.36. K
