The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Good morning all. No, the article wasn't the most informative but if it helps to get the SP moving , that'll do nicely. Could sell 50k shares(I didn't!) @24p+ a few minutes ago on HL, so something has given us a good start to the week.
I think the 2 camps on here need to take a step back and relax a bit. I suspect a lot of thr holders on here are similar to me-resigned to losing a lot of what they've invested, but pleased to see the recent mini revival in the SP and hopeful-no more than that-of the revival continuing. As for new investors, anyone doing any research at all must be aware of the risks and see the "investment" as a punt. As I see it there is a chance that there will be enough of a rise-I need about 100% from here-to get back to my average price and even a chance that it will go a bit further and give me a profit. I like to read these forums but this one is getting a bit of a drag now with all the old arguments being trotted out ad nauseam. I don't have any faith in Mick and I wish Mtr would get rid of him but nothing I do , say or read on here will make that happen. Similarly I know what the assets are and I don't need to read over and over what they are or might turn into. So why don't we all relax and wait to see what happens. Or if you don't see any possibility of a return just sell up and leave the rest of us to cry into our beer!
I think there was some discussion on this point a short while back. In the IC article the GGP holding is about 18m shares isn't it, but some on here thought about 4m had been sold leaving 14m shares plus the warrants still held. Is anyone close enough to the company to get in touch and ask them for the current position?
ggp?
Thanks Illaquens. Lets hope SFR keep up the regular divis.
Can someone enlighten me please as to what happens to the dividends on the shares subject to these financing arrangements. Do Mtr continue to receive them or are they paid to the "lender"?
Delayed by 24hrs!
I think it's a valid question, Chestec. given how much of a struggle it's been to get even here. However, if you look at the sum of the assets I think you have to conclude that very little if any of the potential upside from our major investments is currently priced in. The royalties from SFR could be huge and the potential from MTR's 60+% in KML could be another game changer. My own view on the current SP is that it's MTR's history that is holding it back but once we, and everyone else, can start to calculate the real value of our SFR and KML interests then the market will have no choice but to price MTR properly. In the meantime MTR is assembling a quality portfolio of smaller investments which will also make a financial contribution as well as adding to MTR's reputation enabling it to consign its past problems to the history books.
If all those deals are buys, why haven't they shifted the SP? Some must be sells, surely.
Hydrogen, I'm afraid your arithmetic has gone a little wry-96m shares at .33p is about £300k+not £3m+
Right, that's got that cleared up then. Next question-does the mis-labelling of deals have any effect on the SP-i.e. does reporting buys as sells drag the price down?
Ziquarat, you seem to be getting a little hot under the collar. Who knows where we'll be SP wise in a month's time or for what reason? However I doubt the MTR BoD have done this for a quick fix, but as part of a longer term strategy so I don't think they'll be terribly disappointed if there's no sudden jump in the SP and probably the same goes for most on here. The point is that the share consolidation was and is seen to be a sensible move to position the company for what most of us think lies ahead.
My shares are in my HL portfolio and I could sell on line if I wanted-just tried a dummy sale. They did warn me prior to the consolidation that it might take a short while to make the adjustment so I'm sure your shares will turn up shortly.
I don't think there's much point in trying to explain to bottle-tops. He clearly doesn't understand, but he doesn't want to understand either as that will mean admitting his mistake.
Just tried some dummy deals. Could sell @ 2.51 but couldn't buy on line. Tried 200k,100k and 50k, but still couldn't get a quote.
Pendulum's on the up again.
Hello DP. How are you? What are your thoughts about tomorrow night-a "must not lose" game?
You're right about MTR's "atoms".Most things , good or bad, happen when you least expect them. You wait patiently for weeks for good news, until you eventually give up looking for it and then out of the blue the RNS drops and faith is restored.
Unless something unforeseen comes along my intention at the moment is to hold until we reach at least 4p! Shouldn't be too long!
Seems like the 2.50 bid is triggering too many sells at the moment to get past it. Very short sighted approach to me but I suppose everyone has different objectives.
Oh. Spiffin'
