Gold and silver have just launched upwards again. Not yet clear why, but would seem to be heading up quite eagerly.

~$1857 if it breaks above $1800-1810.

I've added them to the filter list. Vitriolic tinfoil hattery. Great. The stock market is a conspiracy to them. Vaccines are a conspiracy to them. The coronavirus is a conspiracy to them. Philanthropy is a conspiracy to them. The mailman delivering them post is a conspiracy to them. They're really too far gone to ever attempt to reason with and the spam is just too much to sift through.

I think it coincided with Yellen saying rates might need to be increased to stop the economy overheating.

Gold price likewise.

A big US CPI figure for April will spook the markets a little and bolster gold. It has been gathereing pace over the last 6 months:

If April is ~3.5% and the fed still won't talk about tapering or raising rates then Gold will cruise past $1800 again.

The latest CPI data from the US comes out on the 12th of May, which may begin to give an indication of the inflationary pressures building there. I will likely hold at least until then.

The data/fed stance/gdp/employment/earnings this week were all very positive for the US' (and the UK's) economy, so inevitably metals struggled a little. But if and when meaningful inflation starts measurably ticking up, metals will pick up a bit of a tailwind.

No idea if and by how much this "silver squeeze" will impact Silver or Fres though, especially the second time round.

It looked like an opportunity to me when it dropped to 876p on Thursday last week... Woops! ^^

But, if I thought it was an opportunity then, clearly I agree it's probably an even bigger one now.

Saying that, I must admit I can no longer even guess the day to day price movements here. It seems to be a law unto itself and/or buffetted more more winds than anyone could reasonably account for.

I am, however, still confident that we'll see a return of a share price higher than it currently stands, quite soon. That I can't answer when, or how high, does concern me somewhat, but I'm still confident it's an opportunity.

Not convinced shorting from this particular price would be a profitable venture.

So it triple bottomed, now if it breaks out through 870 then it'll be back in a bullish trend.

It's likely to be drawn up to fill that gap, eventually, either way. I'm expecting some sort of rally to begin after 14:30, with the majority of the movement tomorrow morning at open.

It could, but it would need a catalyst for any further drop. It looks, but we'll find out shortly if it is, like it's forming a triple bottom pattern.
So, if I was to guess, a bounce back up off 848 and fill the gap up to 890 over today and tomorrow.

Seems to be bouncing now. Expecting that gap to fill, so (probably) easy 3-4% on offer to ride it back up.

I think much of the downward drift in the last 2 days is related to the general uncertainty around the recovery (inflation, global case numbers) rather than specifically any indictment on Fres.

It's slipped into a holding pattern while the market awaits any clues from the fed this afternoon and it isn't unique to Fres, other miners are similarly down.

Given the scale of involvement on reddit, could actually cause quite a sizeable movement for Silver.

Regardless of the sentiment that afflicts Fres at the moment, in the background Silver is ticking up quite purposefully. Gold likewise. Both are trending upwards.

Eventually the share price will emerge from the doldrums it's in and begin again to reflect the prices of the products that underpin it.

It looked quite like a triple bottom over the last 3 trading days, followed today by a breakout through the first resistance level. Obviously it's still all just guesswork with this share, but that's a fairly bullish pattern. It might break towards 270-290 from here.

Well, if "Nettles" is as happy as you are to downplay the impact of a pandemic, while shaming the experts for giving their opinion on it, the media for reporting on it, and deride the counter-measures countries are taking to limit the damage from it - all to ramp the shares in a manufacturer of aircraft engines, then I'm not altogether sorry that your cat and I disagree on the ethical role of a shareholder.

You have a bizarre view on investing. One can best change a company from within. Anyone should be able to invest in whatever they please, and use that investment as a voice to instigate the change they want to see. Buying an oil stock doesn't mean you love oil, but perhaps they're divesting into renewables and you want to accelarate and encourage that. Buying a silver mining stock that supplies the world's transition to clean solar in order to encourage safe and sustainable environmental practice, is possible with a stakeholder's voice that you don't have when you don't invest.

Ethical investors shouldn't pretend half the world's businesses don't exist and that they'll just go away if they ignore them enough. You've got to get your hands dirty.
