These vascillations are obviously minorly concerning to witness when all other signs point north, but I think very few people invested here have expectations of seeing much less than 1000p in the near term. Gains of 10-20%, in what might ultimately be only a month, seem not unreasonable - it's just a case of holding on and being patient. Yes, you could definitely, presently, trade this quite well, but similarly there's a significant risk you could end up missing a 10% up day in pursuit of the 3% swing.

Eventually this will get a rerate, perhaps all of a sudden, and over maybe a few shorts weeks, it will find itself back mulling around 12-1300s.

The (apparent) popping of the crypto bubble could be very useful to PMs, given that it's acted almost as a competitor to gold for safe haven status and drawn not a negligible amount away from what would have landed in metals.

Couple this with this wider market correction and metals tend to get dragged down initially and momentarily but bounce back out of it fastest. Take last March for example: Fres faltered with the market but within 10 trading days was back up 10% higher than before the drop.

Inflation will creep up and the fed will let it. They'll not entertain raising rates until the other part of their remit (full employment) is nearer to being accomplished. So long as inflation is below 6% I think they'll let it run and not touch rates.

They're seeking 2% yearly inflation target via rolling average, and it's run under 2% for so long that they've stated they're fine letting it run hot for a while, so long as over the longer term it averages out at 2%.

Yes it could. Yet it's unlikely given the inflation verging on hyperinflation in commodities. Eventually the rapidly inflating price of materials will have to be passed onto the consumer. It began to last month, and is likely to continue to this month and going forward.

These selloffs with the market tend often to be followed by a flooding back into gold. They get sold on the panic, and panic rebought into the bounce. Gold, silver and fres will finish in the green today.

I actually agree that one of these strains, likely one of the Indian variants, will prove to largely evade the action of the viral vector vaccines like the Astra and J&J. I think the MRNA vaccines will still offer sufficient protection. Which is good news for America and Europe, but might mean booster vaccines for places like the UK where the Astra vaccine made up a much larger share of its vaccination campaign. Respectfully, won't comment on it being part of a "plan" though.

That's true, and personally I won't be investing there at the moment. I just suspect it probably is still a "buy"; that the prevailing sentiment is correct, and closer to the bottom of its current trading range than the top. Lot's of risks there, as you said, but on a "best guess" trajectory for the cruise industry, factoring in those risks as well as one can, it wouldn't be altogether surprising to see in the £20s within 12 months, validating that buy recommendation.

Fair points, however ultimately, I think the market will act favourably towards Carnival's share price going forward.

$22 bn in debt is objectively a lot, but it's set against a backdrop of $7-8 bn yearly profit in normal times, so it's relatively easy to reign back in over 3-5 years.
It's a big company, with $55 bn in total assets, with a big market that will readily help it to recover once it's permitted.

Disagree with you on Carnival carve. The business model depends on weathering economic cycles. Very few people take cruises in a recession, they know this, and recessions are inevitable and cyclical. This has just been a very severe and very immediate recession for them. They maintain a huge warchest for just these occassions and would appear to have liquidity to last into 2023 even with no recovery whatsoever before then. Much of what you say is otherwise true, but the balance sheet at Carnival is sound, and the new debt sustainable - on the assumption that cruises, as they existed before, do return eventually.

Bond yields trending back down after the bounce earlier. Gold and Silver will keep drifting north as those yields drift down. $1850 gold ought to tug Fres towards and above £10. Just needs to hold that momentum over the weekend.

Just seems to be post-news turbulence and profit taking. It's on the up again. Will approach $1857 for Gold and $27.9 Silver and 940 Fres by close.

Money is bound to pile back into PM's now the trend is very markedly upwards.
