World Health Organization ships about 1.5 million tests to 120 countries

The World Health Organization has shipped almost 1.5 million novel coronavirus tests to 120 countries, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during a news briefing on Monday.

"We’re working with companies to increase the availability of tests for those most in need," Tedros said.

He continued: "The most effective way to prevent infections and save lives is breaking the chains of transmission, and to do that you must test and isolate. You cannot fight a fire blindfolded and we cannot stop this pandemic if we don’t know who is infected. We have a simple message for all countries: test, test, test."

What amazes me is that the public relations people acting on behalf of NCYT (if there is one) has failed miserably to get any TV coverage on its 2-hour testing product. You would have thought it would be headline news in the UK and all TV stations would be keen to spread some positive news!! GLA

Interviewed this morning on radio 4 breakfast show. In response to a question, he said that NHS aren't doing nationwide testing because there isn't an easy test available. He then had the temerity to say that "we were ahead of the curve compared with South Korea". If he really believe what he is saying and that is the 'official' line, then we're doomed.... GLA

How can there be NO pollution in China whatsoever, unless the Chinese Government has imposed 'self isolation' over the entire country and how believable is that? So, is this fake NASA news in an attempt to reduce global panic??? Conspiracy theorists watch out!!!

"Public health authorities around the world are pursuing a variety of strategies when it comes to testing for COVID-19. For example, Public Health England (PHE) has issued testing guidance to the NHS to be deployed across eight testing centres in the UK. PHE as part of its planning has also invited diagnostic manufacturers (including Primerdesign) to submit tests for a formal evaluation process, which is expected to conclude NEXT MONTH. It is not known at this time what conclusions or guidance the PHE will subsequently give to the NHS for COVID-19 testing."

Well PHE, it IS next month, so hopefully its evaluation will be forthcoming in the not too distant future.

Currently (according to the news report), there are two types of virus dubbed 'S' type (the original) virus and and now a mutated version 'L' type, which apparently is more aggressive, spreads faster and accounts for 70 per cent of all new cases. GLA
