Metalhead: my view is mechanical failure and it hasn't been a quick fix, or, they decided to re-target aiming for the upper or lower part of the conductor which could be thicker. Not sure I buy the external review, there's a team of experienced geologists so unless its a new mineral they would know within 24 hours the key components in the core. They've had time to cut sections of core, to fly it to Leicester , Perth or Johannesburg and have a lab do some basic mass spectrometer tests
