Points about moving in concert are interesting. Considering though that they are all very different businesses with different balance sheets etc, why do people think that is the case? Is it possibly because they are so beaten down ATM they will all float up together till nearer the real relative merits/valuations of each are reached and then their charts start to devolve?
IE, they are all 50% undervalued now and will move together till 25% undervalued then go their separate ways based on company performance.
Shorting stock.
This may seem silly, (I don't know the size of the short) but could it have just been a faint, to disguise bigger buying?
(I believe in conspiracies!).

So that's quite a strong finish in the states. Averages of about + 5% at the close.
Using that as a jumping point for us tomorrow, will we...
A....Climb swiftly to 172 Thousand feet and bathe in the sunshine?
B....Having today reached cruising height bumble along eating our "Select cuisine" using plastic cutlery ?

On a slightly different topic..
Just looking at the five year charts, FTSE up just over 4%, IAG and RR - 50% each, NWG +9%, LLOY -20%. Not sure if others agree, but it seems to me that there is no point investing in managed funds, or even pensions. (Just as well I never did it). Share ownership with self management is the only way to go. I certainly would not like to have had to buy an annuity in the last two years.

Seems to me that with IAG being an international company it can take advantage of differing conditions in those countries/trade groups. For instance inflation is about 7% here and 5% over there (we all know where that is don't we?) historically though slower to initially move, "they" survive these things better. So I see an opportunity for some "Musical chairs" though it will be Airbuses that get moved.

That's true of today, but for the month the pound is down 0.075% and the share price is differential is FTSE up 0.054%..
Ah! now this is starting to make sense, as it is nearly an equal rebalancing. So it's moving in concert, but not in complete time alignment. This could seem to me to be something us little guys could possibly use as a forward indicator.

Am I wrong in saying that as the pound has gone down relative to the Euro, then one needs more pounds to stay equal. Would that not mean that the FTSE price would be higher? The listing may be different, but are not the companies one and the same? Though different investors, are we not all buying the same thing?
Just showing my ignorance here.

To all you clever clogs out there. Could somebody please explain to us thicko's (OK just me then), why IAG on the FTSE and IAG on the BME are not exactly the same price? Presently the BME one is nearly 1% in front. Can this possibly be used as an indicator of price movement direction?

Sun. That's good going. I only had 1K or so, sold in early December I think. Made a small loss. Though I patted myself on the back for buying NWG between 110 and 125. Volatility is a double edged sword.

I had a few CCL late last year but got the willies when I saw their debt and burn rate. One things for sure, they really do fill their ships and when back to normal I'm sure that they will 'Fly' too!
