Was reading up about this last night (OK this morning at 3:30) MOEX is not an approved stock exchange, so shares would POSSIBLY have to be removed from an ISA if only listed there. Hong Kong IS an approved exchange and so qualifies.

It would all come down to valuations in my view, the part kept, compared to that sold. Would the valuation be based on present share price, that 6 months ago or that a year ago or that shown by previous performance, which could certainly not be assumed by any buyer?

That in effect would in time, if not instantly (due to the percentage required) depending on who bought the stock create a new company, or at the very least a new division would it not? If a new division of the original company, then how would it remove any stigma?

I agree. I've never seen a distress sale (for that is what it would be) realise the true value of any company or asset. Also one of the reasons we hold Poly now is because of good performance history, this is largely down to good management. Are and spin off companies top people going to be as good? If some of the present people moved too that may put a different complexion on it, as would it being a takeover target from other russian companies. After all said and done, I bought for what is known and not for what is unknown.

Whilst the west may look down their noses at russian steel or gas or oil the developing nations will buy it up and bag a good price into the bargain, (Evraz won't really loose in my view because prices have risen so much recently anyway). As a westerner myself, can anybody blame them for doing this? After all, they have financed to a large part the west's growth in years past.

To me, it indicates the problems are short term and that their focus is long term efficient and environmentally sound running. A well run company.

I don't know if you are addressing me with your words, but let's just say, that nobody took any notice of truss when she cried about the wonders of British cheese and the only people to take notice of her otherwise was for the use of a private flight costing £500,000 to Aus for a failed trade meeting, she is also quite happy to eat business lunches at a cost to the taxpayer of £23,000 a time.
Now, why you would think that this in any way makes me soft on Poly I don't know, I have no intention of selling ANY of my 30,600 share holding of Poly (ave price 143.35) or my 39,025 share holding of Evraz (ave share price 94p). Maybe I'm just making decisions on things I believe relevant and not allowing my political leanings to get in the way.

To my mind, one thing is sure, if the orange blob were still in power, America would be out of NATO and russia would be relatively unopposed in their actions. You can blab on with your fake news to your hearts content, President Biden did not try to blackmail Ukraine for weapons. He also does not think that "Person. Woman. Man. Camera. On the world stage President Biden's words in Poland will be having a far greater effect, trusses are probably forgotten is actually seen.

My point is simple, who takes any notice of what liz truss says? The sanctions levied by the U.K. for instance, were in many ways after duress and followed the rest of the west. Obviously we all hope for peace, I just would not base any decisions on a few words from our "World beating" foreign sec.

Whilst I do see some sense in some of what you have said, are there not other/counter ways to see it?

"If the price goes up, the divi return percentage goes down." Very true, (especially for those that bought at the lows) but it may still be a return of 10% (based on divi of 70p and a share price of £7) this is still very good, and would cause many to buy in at this level. Those later buyers may also factor in share price appreciation, (if the global situation has stabilised).

"The risk rising as price rising." The risk to those that bought at very low prices is possibly higher of a retrace, but to what, surly not sub £1.75? but as/if the rise takes hold, it infers more confidence and hence lower risk for all going forward.

If the discounted coal price goes to Evraz from Rasp, this will surly be shown as greater profits for the steel side. After all competitors without that integration will have being paying more for their coal which they will claw back in higher steel prices from them. If the coal mines are in russia and steel making worldwide this alters the balance of where profits are generated, helping the narrative against sanctions.
