That is your view. Unlike the smaller EU nations, others have the money to ride out the storm.
What you have just done is argue against motor insurance. Nobody likes paying for it, but most realise the value of it. That does not stop some 'opting out' so to speak though, and they sometimes suffer the consequences of that..
It is not as you say "Russian anti hysteria" most understand that it's not in any way the wish of ordinary RRussian people, It is the realisation that some in a nation or it's leader cannot be trusted and that alternative options have to be considered/enacted. Yes, people vote in governments (in the west at least (mostly sometimes)) and those voters understand what hardships wars cause. They will not wish to relive them.
As with all of these things time will tell, but unlike 20 years ago, now, other options are starting to be available. Only 'old school' thinking denies this.
