Indeed cherry, I have only realised post Covid that politically I am best described as a one nation tory. I support free enterprise but equally do have a well developed social conscience. I believe in helping the truly disadvantaged BUT have no time for the lazy freeloaders. We need oil, I would be astonished if the date for IC engine production isn't extended way beyond 2030. If not there will be chaos because EV infrastructure just isn't happening. So why demonise O&G firms, or try to dictate their future business plans? Let them do what they do best and supple a needed product. The board of these large companies know that long term fossil fuel consumption will recede and therefore to protect their futures will invest as appropriate. It doesn't need some jumped up politician who went to Oxbridge, did 2 years in PR then became an MP to dictate as if they know better how UK Plc should be run. Windfall tax on a cyclical business seems to me to be fundamentally wrong - where are the Amazons, Netflix, Disney, Google, Microsoft, McDonald etc etc in the UK? Nowhere because we have a political system that strangles them at birth through taxes and red tape. If we agree to windfall tax is there a trade off when times are bad and massive losses made in O&G like 2020? No, of course there wont be, O&G will be left to fend for themselves in the bad years. And how do you apply a windfall tax without a definition of what a windfall tax is? There is increased CT until (I think) 2027 announced by rhyming slang Hunt. What happens between now and then if Brent falls to c.$40? The profits, such as they are, will still be subject to these higher CT rates. The government is so unpopular now (deservedly) that if Starmer can play down his left wing a decade of Labour now seems inevitable. And Labour are very vocal already again today about windfall tax, so we can assume that there could be worse to come when they are in power. That may cap our SP in the same way as Utilities sank before the last GE due to nice Mr Corbyns threats of renationalisation. Sorry for the rant! GLA

Trouble with ISAs are that you can save free of CGT and tax on dividends, but at the same time any capital losses incurred there are also a usable as the proverbial choccy teapot. (I'd also add that that unlike DC pensions, such as SIPPS, a ISA is part of your estate for IHT which I suspect people don't realise).
Of course ISA shares held for 2 years of more don't, under certain conditions, count towards the IHT allowance. One of the
conditions is that it is a trading company. Not sure whether a bunch of inert directors spouting repetitively about the huge future for lithium while drinking coffee and eating biscuits qualifies for the term trading.
I cant see any future here without JV/ takeover or EU aid to build for the future by supporting the fundamental materials of green technology. Even with free BCN shares I am 50% down, I so wish I had not added to them!

Does this dormant company really need 2 brokers? These brokers aren't working for nothing. So if they aren't up to the job then this Oberon outfit, the joint broker that is being supplemented, should be told to bugger off.

Is there any bloody point in staying with this outfit? Nothing has happened in a year. Nothing will happen in the next year. I cant see any prospect this will ever come to fruition, just another AIM casualty. All we are doing is provide a comfortable and easy life (and future fat pensions) for a bunch of tea and coffee drinkers. Does anyone feel strongly that I am wrong as I truly want to see a counter argument to make me reconsider?
All we will witness here is a gradual reduction in the SP to zero and hence the wipe out of current equity holders. The only hope is a takeover or JV. Please tell me I am wrong.

Well the tax situation can change but when I was doing tax you could. Few examples:
Take this year with an AE of 12300.
If you had gains of 15000 and losses of 2700 then no CGT to pay and carry forward nothing.
Gains of 15000, losses of 5000 then no CGT to pay and carry forward 2700 losses
Gains of 10000 and carried forward losses of 5000 into the current year then no CGT to pay and carry forward 5000 again - you have to offset losses of the current financial year but not the carried forward ones beyond reducing net gain to the pa.
That's how I remember it but I may be getting old and slow!

However clarity would be nice so that we can use the capital loss for our 20222/3 CGT calcs but I doubt we will get it before 5th April. I think you can make what is known as a 'negligible value claim', even where the company hasn't officially gone kaput, if you can show that you reasonably expect that the share is a total loss. After that the share remains on your books as being acquired at zero cost so that any miraculous rising from the ashes is pure profit in a subsequent years CGT calc. Anyone with more info would be appreciated,

Its 12300 22/23, 6000 23/24, then 3000 24/25 onwards (until changed).
You have to offset losses in a tax year against gains even if your gains on their own dont reach the PA.

Where do you see funding coming from without monumental dilution or ZNWD becoming a very minor partner in a JV or being taken over (please investment gods, let one of the last 2 happen asap)? ZNWD is brassic if you hadn't noticed and is about due to for another fund raise to enable them to fund fat Board salaries, pension schemes, tea, coffee and biscuits while they sit round staring out of the window achieving 2/3 of the square root of sweet FA.
And before you wonder why I am a shareholder then the answer is simple. I really wish I wasn't but it doesn't suit me to make a CGT loss this year. I prefer to use the loss next year (or the year after) when our magnificent Chancellor of the Exchequer does his best to destroy investment confidence by decreasing the CGT pa to sod all (2024/5) or half of sod all (2025/6 onwards).

Sorry , was just being silly. But lets face it there is no way this mine is going to be in production for the expected massive demand increase as was recently implied by the CEO. Not by years. If frankly it ever produces at all. Who here thinks there is any chance whatsoever of production within a decade or more? At least not without a JV or outright takeover? And in 10 years I do believe hydrogen cars will be considered the way forward, pure EV is a stop gap that will be eventually used only for local journeys imo. I agree that hydrogen needs a battery pack, which obviously at the moment means lithium, but that battery pack is a much smaller 'buffer' which smooths demand delivery of the motor(s). Smaller batteries mean less lithium demand, if indeed lithium remains the only viable option for mobile application - there are already cheaper viable options for static storage so demand there is already likely to be limited. Lithium price seems to have peaked and has been dropping for over 6 months.

Now we have a proposed feed source for the proposed lithium project only 2.5 km from the proposed processing plant. Lets hope that the proposed replacement of EV cars by hydrogen vehicles doesn't take place before a proposed trip to B&Q to get some shovels takes place.
