Q2 RNS due this week? No surprises either way I doubt but may cause a temporary SP increase as usual! We can hope for Tavsan results too, and more importantly and indication of when the building of the plant there will commence.

Just re-watched the CMD presentation and stayed awake this time. More impressed and reassured on second viewing, particularly on finances indicating imo that the SP is at a significant discount at present due to uncertainties - I'm sure there will be bad news as well as good, but the current valuation is a very pessimistic scenario.
Its a shame about that one snappy answer but I actually think that overall Dr T came across well. I would say he needs to take someone with him when he goes tie shopping next.

Talking of Paul I haven't heard of VanVan recently (I had lunch with the 2 of them after the recent presentation). Hope he;s ok.

There are as many forecasts as there are economists, so with AAU being pretty much underpinned imo I am sticking my head in the sand to Brexit. However I react would be wrong! After all you have to put your money somewhere, and if the predictions are that everything will crash its hard to take your pick

I don't understand this Driver chap, he says he has a formula for making cash in HUR but from his posts it is clear he's pants at it and loses all the time. Bit of a sad case. Is pants allowed? Maybe not here! You probably think I'm saying the plural of lady parts.
Anyway I enjoyed the CMD, and certainly found the first part upbeat, the second part less so. Having said that I did in fact nod off in the middle and ended up rewinding it, read into that what you will. Dr T did come across as tense, but it was a long lecture. I'm being serious when I say that maybe the presentation seemed to (IMO) tail off as tiredness set in under the stress - Dr T and AS both knew that the SP was to an extent hinging on every word and inference. I wasn't very impressed with Dr Ts diplomacy (or lack of), I don't think he will be invited to replace Kim Darroch any time soon. He did handle that one question badly in my view, he should have pointed out that the information was in the CPR but given a very brief precis. As it was it came over as rude and headmasterly,

M2, thanks for a well considered post, and not just because I broadly agree with what everything you say!
With AAU we may be entering a period where the news becomes 'more of the same' - production figures ok, transition to other pits ok, Salinbas RC drilling progressing as permits allow and finding mineralisation per the model as expected etc. Things are pretty much out in the open, you could even argue that unexpected bad news is only potential for surprise. The key to the next enduring increase in SP could be Tavsan - not only should the recent drilling (results imminently due) be confirmation of an extension to likely LOM beyond 4 years but hopefully we could get news within months of when mining/the new plant will commence. The definite prospect of JV production increasing to 50k oz from 25k oz may justify a doubling on the current SP. Then there are the 'maybe' factors - a significant increase in POG (which some investors take for granted), a discovery of HM2 (which ….. some investors take for granted). As I have said before I see this share, unlike HUR perhaps, as safely underpinned at the current level. I am past the stage in my life when the risk of sudden poverty is exciting!

Just that from our distant vantage point it seems that your media (excluding of course Fox News) and every intellectual with an IQ staggering into triple figures condemns Trump - yet his popularity in the country could be enough to see him returned in 2020, god forbid. Is it wise for the Democrats to probably field a near octogenarian as his major competitor, irrespective of his virtues?
I have read the posts on the 'other' board concerning the RNS, and I have to concur with them that it was a bit of a damp squib. Not bad news certainly, but nothing to make us say 'By George that's jolly good news' (we English always talk like that). Hence the rise and fall.
Its a dilemma. AAU want to 'add value' to Salinbas before sale/ JV but where do you target in such an area? Could go on for years, and I admit I have a finite horizon re. capitalising my investment (both strategically and probably literally. I do creak a bit these days)

Unfortunately now Turkey has opted for a Russian defence system, rather than buying an American system as demanded by idiot Trump, it appears likely that Turkey will be hammered again by the orange one. Lets hope it doesn't impact AAU. The lira dipped against the $ during the day but recovered.

Why cant gold come down?

Back around 2005 I bought a laptop on the personal service company I had when I was contracting. Lovely it was.. Cant remember the hard drive size, maybe 1Gb. Weighed a ton. Slow processor, limited RAM. Cost? £2400. Can get vastly better now for £400. The same will happen with EVs. Who will want a 8-10 year old EV once technology has moved on and the batteries (by then laughably limited capacity compared to contemporary models) has lost 50% or more capacity? No one, I suspect they will be unsalable.

I'm a long term holder, as most know. I was however maybe 40% over invested beyond a comfortable level. So I have had a bit of a trim, missed the peak this morning but got just over 56 earlier today. There are still some big uncertainties here, and I think that came out in yesterdays marathon podcast as it got past the half way point (that was my interpretation anyway). I feel more comfortable with my revised holding and intend to hold the residual long term

Well at least we aren't invested (though I'm not sure that is the word) in Thomas Cook. The writing has been on the wall for so long you didn't have to be a smart investor to realise that was going to be the inevitable result.
I've sold about a third of my HUR today, nice return but HUR is a company that could still turn out to be a 5 bagger or a complete disaster - with bumpy periods along the way. So I thought a bit of a trim was prudent. So.…...do I use the proceeds to increase my already reasonable holding in AAU ? Now there's a question. I'm sure AAU is pretty safely underpinned (POG allowing), but I think (barring a takeover or substantial buy in) that significant returns could be protracted. Salinbas is a huge area and the exploration could seem endless with actual production probably a decade away (according to Dr.S). Any advice from people I haven't filtered welcome!
