At the risk of upsetting other posters I am not impressed by the final part of the RNS -

The Nomination Committee has initiated steps to seek an appropriate additional Independent Non-Executive Director and will take diversity matters fully into account when reviewing candidates for this appointment.

I don't want diversity taken into account, having invested money in this company I want the very best person for the job, no other criteria, no discrimination but also no 'positive' discrimination in the selection process.

I agree with you that this company is too important to fail. I cannot imagine that the British Government could allow that with so many airlines and the military dependant on its products. But the Government saving is not necessarily reassuring to current equity holders - and RR does have previous for effectively (lifesaving) nationalisation.

No one should try and catch this falling knife. It will eventually bottom out and start recovery - you will miss the very bottom, but the chances are that you will still get back in at a lower price than constantly thinking 'this cant go any lower so Ill buy more'. Wait for an upward trend to be established, probably after the terms of the RI are announced - that is likely to underpin the SP, at the moment the market is constantly looking for those (discounted) terms.

Why do people like you bother to post. Do you think anyone would act on any of your 'wisdom'?

What was needed was some definitive statement this morning. This mornings RNS just strikes me as waffle, re-iterating what was already suspected but short of putting meat on the bones. What is needed is something more robust else why would anyone have the confidence to invest here? This will drift until there is something more decisive. Good luck to all who hold

We'll have to see. I don't think there will be anything definitive from the company yet. Suspect that in this 'phoney war' period the SP will just drift lower, especially with threats of a 'second wave' which will harm the company further by delaying recovery in the airline industry

I hate to say it chaps, Toff comes over a bit arrogant but I think he is talking sense. Investors here should take note. Its always easier to be objective when you don't have a holding, because when you do you look for every excuse why the **** isn't going to hit the fan. Which doesn't stop the hitting taking place.

Sensible post, far more so than some I have read on here today. If there is a share issue it will inevitably be at at discount, else with sufficient liquidity the people who RR seeks funds from would buy in the market instead! Of course a fund raise could be through debt rather than equity, but at the moment the terms for that would be pretty penal - given current performance and short term prospects the interest rate demanded would be high (I believe some existing debt has been reduced to junk bond status). With the SP dropping daily a large fund raise through equity is likely to be at a substantial SP discount, but unless its a placing with selected institutions you should be invited to participate - and when the rights to that participation go 'ex' there should be an increase from where the SP is then. These are my opinions only

Patanj, its a good question. i was briefly in this recently, but the more I read the more I felt uncomfortable, sadly to date selling was the correct decision. I don't necessarily agree with you , some companies lose a lot of their value for good reason - but some just get downwards momentum, which attracts shorter and therefore 'overshoot' a true value leaving scope for a good investment.

Yep Sam, placing or other fund raise, debt levels, asset disposals in a poor market, bad short term prospects in its main sector. Take you pick. I take no pleasure in saying that, but the question needs to be asked by shareholders - why would RR go up at the moment rather than mark time or worse still decline. What are the positives (short term)?

I don't know whether it is. I bought in at about 270 thinking 'screaming bargain'. Reflected on it a few days later, looked at the news , thought 'nope' and thankfully decided against remaining invested. Of course RR will survive, i have no doubt about that, but not convinced how that will look - not sure where the bottom is, especially when I look in the sky and see no aircraft day after day. Of course air travel will recover, but when it will achieve previous 'taking a bus' like levels is anyones guess. At some time it will be oversold, be nice to have a crystal ball.

Still sitting on the sidelines here watching, after riding the crest of an enjoyable wave with Dana. That Dana success was about 10 years ago, and the 'Dana on speed (or whatever)' that TC promised at the time has not happened yet. Was TC a one trick pony? Presumably he isn't that young now so will he retire soon and drink single malt in a Croft on Skye? Who knows

The latest expert opinion is still just that, an opinion, and may yet prove inaccurate - pessimistic even. But having said that I don't think that the Halcyon days of 18 months back stand an icebergs hope in hell of returning here!

I think there is some defence for the situation prior to production. Indications were good. As has always been said it wouldn't be until there was production commenced and continued testing took place that more definite conclusions could start to be drawn. That happened. The only real con job, if there was one, in my view was the constant reassurance that came though in CMDs post production, when question marks must surely have already been raised in the minds of company geologists. Investors have to put faith in what they are told by those whose job it is to be 'experts', and we were effectively told that Trice was pretty much the worlds foremost egg head on FBs.

You have to admit that the mention of derampers is a bit odd. Not sure what the definition is but to my mind a deramper spreads negative rumours on an otherwise positive situation in an attempt to make the SP drop and gain a holding at a lower price. Lets admit it, there is no need for an more negativity!
