No one can complain about the SP, but not at the moment convinced there is much more to come in the short term unless POG/POS regains upwards momentum. The divi is a mixed blessing, for the investors it will just swap Capital Gains for income which may not be tax efficient as you cant dictate the timing of a divi payment.
Being a minority shareholder in the JV and dependence on one, relatively young, man also concerns me. People move on.

Thought provoking post. The only thing I don't really agree with is that anything is nailed on for Monday in particular unless you know of an announcement due that I don't. The news that you mentioned has been known in the market for several days, so any immediate dramatic SP action would have happened.
The thought that Ganfeng will could bury this venture is something i hadn't considered but is possible (I hope unlikely). Why would they bury one venture in which they themselves have a significant interest in order to benefit the wider market and hence its competitors? That seems very charitable!
I know others have their doubts, but I was reassured by the management focus being clearly aimed at Mexico by reducing Germany to, effectively a hands-off investment. That latter project should now advance which would be far distant otherwise.

Errr. I still preferred that company as it was, a view that is reinforced by the fact that Gold is now at $1900 rather than $1500 meaning that the reduction in assets hurts more. In the opposite direction production has declined more than expected and costs risen faster than I expected so maybe AAU is getting a reasonable return from the assets ceded. Don't know but rest assured that one grumpy old voice will have no effect on the vote when it happens

Your entitlement to the new shares wont change but your share price on the fully paid shares will drop on the ex rights date as new owners of RR shares from that date will not have the rights to subscribe to the new 32p shares (because you will keep them). Effectively on the x rights date you will have 2 investments, fully paid shares and the rights. You could then sell the rights because if you don't they will probably eventually expire without value (this can vary, and I haven't read the prospectus as I'm not a shareholder and I had some paint to watch dry instead today!)

er 1.5 for 5 is the same as 3 for 10. But moving on....
In your original post the SP would still be 1.15, the MC still £2.5bn (or whatever you said), the money raised would still be £2bn but your denominator would be reduced by over 3,000,000. So your calculation would change even though nothing is different in terms of the capital raised.
i wouldn't mind but I have seen you critisise people knowledge, education, intelligence and mathematical ability.

What on earth are you on about Toff? So if the same £2bn was being raised by an RI at twice the price, 64p, then Rolls Current Value would be much higher because your denominator was smaller? I agree because its not sustainable. A one off divi raises expectations if a regular divi stream. Especially a large one off special that will give unplanned tax issues where shares aren't held in SIPP or ISA.
Going forward AAUs share in the only mining area likely to be producing for several years is reduced to 23.5% of a production that is much diminished compared to 2018 & 2019. AAUs share at 18000 oz pa is only a little over 4000 oz, albeit at a higher gold price (and sadly also higher costs). With commitments in Cyprus will there be any substantial regular dividend? Tavsan still seems a way off still, Salinbas 5 years plus?

Tick. At last a bit of logic. One reason for the steep discount is to avoid the possibility of the value of the nil paids becoming negative - clearly that would be a disaster as it would then be illogical to take up the rights in that scenario. The nil paids become 0 when the (pre ex rights) SP reduces to the rights price, ie 32p. I dont think even the biggest pessimist expect RR to sink to 32p just yet!

Babbler. Logic check, 22000 shares are worth over £22000. MC is being doubled. So the figure for the rights must be on par with that. Think you have your decimal point in the wrong place

....because the price may not be lower by 23rd October! Who knows? Private investors behave emotionally (why else do we hold on to shares that go down 50% and sell shares that have gone up 10%?), I really would take their advice with a pinch of salt. Read around the financial press (god knows there will be plenty about todays goings on) and make up your own mind

Put 'Understanding Rights Issues' into Google and lots of hits come up. Read the Investopedia entry for instance. Why ask opinions of people on a chat board, many of whom are giving misleading advice, rather than understand properly?

Because the buyer of the right will need to pay the 32p. Selling the right absolves you of the 32p payment, the responsibility for that passes to the buyer
