I agree that I have worries that the partner is Chinese, but then again in todays world they make things happen, You pays your money and you takes your choice!

As I understand it from other posters Ganfeng have no history of operating that way

All I mean is that Ganfeng could exercise their right to acquire a greater direct interest in Sonara (rather than indirect through their holding of BCN shares) more cheaply if they did so while BCN SP was low. Last (Octobers?) RNS talked about the option and said that the price paid would be based on the BCN SP at the time of exercise - as I said before I interpreted that as being an accounting exercise, start with BCNs MC and make a few ins and outs of accounting items to imply the value of the Sonora project. So it the BCN SP is (relatively) low you imply a lowish value to Sonora, hence Ganfeng more likely to exercise at that time if they had confidence in the project. Don't forget Ganfeng have 2 fingers in the pie, a direct interest in Sonara (now 50% I think after this mornings news) and another indirect interest though their 25% (ish) holding of BCN shares. Don't get me wrong, I think this is good news as it means the project is likely to happen, but it does mean we are (if you like) minority shareholders now, we still need to find development cash and the reins are firmly in Ganfengs mitts.

Motoring now, I personally think that Ganfeng have a bargain here. They now have direct or indirect control of over 50% of Sonara. However that tells me they think it will happen, which has to be good for us small guys. My only worry is ceding even greater (or total) control if BCN cant raise funds meet their portion of the plant costs without further dilution. Fingers crossed!

I wish I felt confident to 'go large' here. Just that I've seen several of these promising stories that will definitely only go one way suddenly reverse and scuttle off backwards. I'm sure its a total coincidence but most are on AIM.......
Anyway still in here, breaking even at this price.

I may be completely wrong, I openly admit that, but to me the most negative spin possible is being put on this business by the MCS board . With just enough positivity skilfully thrown in to provide them with a plausible defence against such accusation.
Yes I am a cynic, but this board, who have very little skin in the game, are about feathering their own nests rather than acting in the interest of shareholders or indeed the elderly UK population against an opportunistic bid.

I don't particularly join in the sparring between DJ and Paul, but find it interesting to hear differing and obviously researched views (even if, or maybe especially because, they have reached rather different conclusions).
if we were to keep solely to the point of the message board then this would be a dull and sparse place to be - there is only so much you can say about the few RNS' that emerge, and no one truly knows if the BODs chosen path will be better or worse than the pre 2020 AAU.
Arguably the political situation in the US is very relevant to the SP prospects of AAU, given that the health of the World economy has a profound effect on POG and politics are sometimes quite edgy in Turkey/ Cyprus.

Its difficult Carlos. TC obviously did us well with Dana, but was it luck? Is he a one trick pony? Is he nearing retirement? Its been a decade here, and I'm sure many investors bought into the dream at considerably higher SP than now. Of course the oil markets have not run in his favour but does seem to be taking a time this time. I am here because of TC and Dana. i'm in for 35000 shares at 27.7p. Will I increase? Only if news and momentum indicate that I should

I'm always concerned about following a dominant 'star'. That's probably the single biggest reason why I wont invest heavily here, I suspect TC dominates Parkmead strategy. but its also difficult to see past domestic issues here. We are rentering lockdown (as indeed are some big mainland European economies). But oil price is dependant on Worldwide consumption so restraint in European consumption is not necessarily going to keep Brient at c. $40

We've all been there!
Do wonder why I/we put ourselves through this. I constantly question whether 'investing' differs much from gambling - it easy to celebrate the winners while conveniently forgetting the losers, and I can appreciate gamblers logic (or lack of).
As I documented before one of my winner over the years was Dana, and always kept my eye on this successor - having dipped my toe in and out of Parkmead a couple of times I bought recently at about 27p. Not trying to wind you up, my bad decisions would make you weep!
The way I look at an apparent loser is to be objective and ask myself 'if I weren't a holder would I think this was currently investible'. If the answer is no than sell. If it's yes then there is no point in selling - the paper loss is regrettable but you cant change it, its history.

Well I was in a good mood before I read that Motley Fool had recommended it. My experience is that its a kiss of death.
On Monday I had my finger poised on the deal button at 62.8 ish, and guess what. I didn't press it. Unsmiley face.
Lastly, I don't want to be miserable but I have filtered Jjtrader. Nothing personal about your content Jj but the way you write, and persist in putting pauses all over every single one of your posts, is probably he most irritating thing I have ever known a poster to do on lse boards. It's neither clever or amusing.

You'll find a few interviews on YouTube which aid understanding, modified a little by recent developments surrounding the German interest. Good and bad points really centre around Ganfeng for me, a wealthy Chinese operation which should get things done but equally need watching as a dominant partner

I think its pretty nailed the FTSE wont go up! How will it affect AML? Well the factories should stay open, will depend if worldwide the rich customers still feel rich enough to order new cars. Search me! Short term there is bound to be negative sentiment.
