Cmon guys lets get the nos right! cash+equivalents was barely £3m at year end (not a lot of bearing on current till receipts) at best if you include the £93m cash flow would hardly have increased but for the award. At best the co has £85m In the till some 52% of current mrk cap and would wipe out the co debt with change!.The muted sp rise is understandable given that a) Spo has not won b)appeals in the pipeline c) the money will be locked up.Hardly a recipe for celebrations.

Good post jumpedship they may well have lost this battle hence the settlement but they have not lost the war assuming leave to appeal is granted.While we await the final decision Spo will be unable to use the award pending further frivolous appeals by HMRC fearing a reversal.

Any news coming out of the USA is treated negatively (see recent RNS) investors are not prepared to look beyond the end of their noses well more fool them unless your dumping stock at 40p buy levels and how many private investors were buying at those distressed level prices?.We are pretty much in a "toss of the coin" market and best kept well away unless your a raging short.

Limbo land the shares continue to slide as expected investors can only take so much of this uncertainty with probably a lot more to come why we put up with this nonsense god knows? Oh silly me the shareholders are getting screwed and the shysters are making money happy days! .

A few further thoughts on the "spot the ball "game.My wife was a avid player for many years (never won a light) and the beauty of the game is simplicity itself.All you have to do is place the ball in the correct position on the picture, easy peesy!.Your presented with 7-8 players jumping for the ball and with your vast football acumen just place a cross where you think tbe ball is.But hold on! Assuming you are right and the ball is on the strikers toe oh happy days! , well not quite.So now you have correctly identified the exact position.......but is your cross exactly in the middle of the ball?not slightly up or down or maybe a tad left or right? get the picture? I hear further appeals could be on the cards (oh you lucky shysters) for the appellant being denied. So we're off to the upppper upppper court of the European court of lawyers pension funds and failing that a tribunal is waiting on Saturn regrettably well all be dead by then. My final thoughts on the merry go round of High Court/Tribunal cases.The sooner we adopt the US system of appeals the better wherein "frivolous appeals"are severely punished if lost on 2nd trial and.damages may be doubled or tripled with punitive sums added!.I'm pretty sure this system was in operation back in the day? mind you with US courts litigation mad that may no longer apply . However surely this would stop the incessant litigation denuding shareholders of their legal rights and enriching ambulance chasing lawers! Will it happen? not a chance! they will always feather there own nets leaving us unsatisfied and well screwed. What do you reckon SPO lawyers will get paid irrespective of the decision? Look at £2million plus!.I hope SPO have the grace to accept a decision in favour of HMRC and I sincerely doubt HMRC would be so magnanimous should SPO win. My final thoughts on this long and overwrought saga heres hpping for a settlement before 2015.

Sportech shareholders may remember the tortuous process of the vat claim for overpayment on the spot the ball game.It first came back in 2010 when HMRC rejected Sportechs claim which the co subsequently appealed.This was due to be heard in early 2012 but was delayed and not heard until October with a decision expected in Jan 2013. Further delays (no reason given) the case was heard Sportechs case upheld in March 2013.This was subject to challenge, HMRC given leave to appeal by April if so minded.On 2nd May HMRC duly lodged an appeal to the upper tier tribunal which was rejected on the 31st May.That should Have been the end of the matter but in a surprise turnaround in June 2013 the decision was reversed and a further appeal was granted!. As we all know the case was heard end April 2014 with no indication as to when a decision will be made.Lets hope that a speedy resolution will be forthcoming and no further appeals be permitted.

Yamaha 865 why dont you think it's a 50/50 chance?.The previous award in Sportechs favour has no bearing on the Upper Tribunal deliberation, its a new case with new submissions and previous judgements will have no influence on their adjudication.Accept its a new ball game with an highly unlikely outcome not one I would be punting on! .

Mathew you have rumbled me wish I was that clever! But for me to average down the stock would have to tank and thats not going to happen even if the claim went ts up.

The vat claim should they win would undoubtedly be a huge bonus for the company but that's all it is a bonus and one cannot evaluate a companies prospects on a 50/50 chance. Mindless conjecture? you may think so its just not a given that many SPO holders think they will win.All im saying theres many a slip between cup and lip and to prepare for the unexpected. Look ive held SPO for probably far too long for my own good so I have a vested interest in a successful outcome but im not fixated on the vat claim result.

You would have to believe in fairies if you think Henderson have been tipped off re the vat appeal! I have more chance of winning the lottery than that happening. As I said before the vat case is a side show which they most certainly can and probably will lose why? sods law and events. Focus on the poor results this co has been going nowhere for the last 10 years the pools operation is a busted flush hemorrhaging customers hand over fist the Indian expansion????? Who knows another waste of time and money as are most of their joint deals. I was bullish a few months back mainly on the US operations but recent execs leaving and huge hurdles to overcome to make any worthwhile profits this side of 2020 hardly make an appetising investment.Go back 10 years whats the stock done?... This is now a good opportunity to lock away some cheap stock am expecting great things from the company this year and im not including any vat upside. We are overdue some news on the Indian front as well as those other joint ventures in SA and France . several brokers have a target price of around 130-150 win the vat and this could look cheap in a couple of years.
