Henderson Global ups stake in Sportech to 51.7m from 49.2m. Henderson now has a 25.2% in the company.They like the stock having been consistent buyers for a nos of years.They may stop at the max permitted at 29% which would trigger a bid? Should Spo win the vat appeal Hendersons purchases would be seen to be inspired, not that I think it was their main reason, more like the shares trade well below nav, the co are ideally placed to benefit from the deregulation of online gaming in the US not to mention the regulatory hoops/costs the company has already spent to become a co of repute. No mean task as co officers are thoroughly vetted as well as they are required to hold gaming licenses.

Good news for Sportech which has regulatory approval in 34 states.The recent terrible weather will impact y/end figs for the Racing & Venues but only marginally imo.Need it to clear up quickly for a strong opening half to 2015.

Spo reported in recent update that the rac/dig division had suffered a 10.5% reversal slightly offset by a 2.7% increase in Oct.Last year this div produced (£7.7m ebita) with digital chipping in revenues of (£3.9m) the bulk of revenues set by tote services at (27.9m).So once again a hit of 10% to digital wont be breaking the bank anytime soon.I may have been over cautious in my forecast of £24m for 2014 which makes the 11% sp fall last week senseless. The gross profit?...........near 21%! I would be amazed if this div did not double next year particularly as New Jersey is ready for take off.

Spo have already flagged up the ebita will be lower due to currency translation, weaker racing revenues and start up costs on the Venues.All on all at the h/yr ebita was down £0.5m reflecting gross profit down £0.6m and cash flow down £0.7m.Hardly catastrophic figures! I think investors have over reacted spooked mainly by the vat reversal which imo was ridiculous and ill judged.There may be darker forces at play.However be that as it may im going for a small 5% decline in ebita to around £24m. That would give us an eps of 11.7p and a pe of 4x.Subject to the usual caveats profits could rebound strongly nxt yr to upwards of £28m (eps 14/pe 3.6).The sp does in no way reflect any bid premium in fact quite the reverse which imo is surprising. Having done the spadework and investment required to enter the US leisure/gaming market there will be companies "eyeing" Spo as a too tasty morsel to miss.I say this every year about Sportech and they regularly disappoint me, but I really believe this is their time.All to play for.

Yesterday £145k of sells knocked £12m approx off co value, does not make sense to me but not a lot of stk mrkt trading does., buys recorded as sells and vice versa and huge scepticism surrounds mm's and algobot trading strategies. So far we have escaped the shorters (not the day traders) but concerted short selling funds a la Roble who if they smell blood will decimate a cos sp given half a chance. Im not aware of any Sportech shares out on loan to the ...........! If I ever see that I would be out like a shot.

Co says they expect to meet market expectations for the f/yr (within the spread) Blimey anyone would think this is Quenron! Most holders I know are lth the stock and their is scope for a year end rally.Looks like 2015 will be a pivotal year when many irons in the fire will start to burn brightly (im not inc the vat as thats a gonner imo).Discretionary spend is hugely dependent on the state of the economy and I have not seen anything to pressage a 2008 collapse.As ever dont back against the US!

NYX the Sweedish gaming operator has added the pools and other games to its content in a bid to capture market share.Of course its the way to go nowdays and should help to stem the pools decline in player nos.Time will tell but is it too late?

These as I understand it are when a buyer/seller deals inside the sp spread or at the mid price.Thus lse books the trade in black as an unknown bargain. I stand to be corrected but it makes sense all I would add is if there are lots of mp trades and the sp moves up, there probably buys but may also include sells but the trend is up.Lets hope last wks 17% gain continues as investors see that value is not adequately represented in the sp.Whatever happened to that "Bump acquisition"is a mystery.I did not dream it up saw it reported from a reputable source, oh well maybe with the int statement?
