London opened lower, ftse off 21 on trade/Brexit, Emerging Mrkt currency worries & the tech reversal in America. Big fallers were the miners and ex dividend factors (Admiral Group, BHP, RSA & Shire) took the shine off the ftse. In the Q reshuffle there were no changes to the constituents. A cap less than £4bn would see a Co ejected. Late afternoon the ftse was solidly in the red awaiting the latest US jobs report nos. One wag commented its a "sit & stew" couple of months for London investors. Stocks gaining were Melrose, (Gkn integration going well) & Dixons. The 100 closed down 62 The All off 32 and 250 fell 105. Ytd the 100 is down c.5%. London slipped a place in the UHNW (ultra high net worth) table to 8th place. That's individuals having a min net worth of $30min. In the US Google led the sell off in techs taking the Dow sharply lower in morning trading the Dow 60 lower at lunch and Nsdq down 80+. Notable decliners Apple, Google and Fbk which slid for the 5th session and its lowest point since April. Tesla stopped the rot u/c at $290. Most analysts say the techs are having a temporary reversion given the stellar returns these last few years. The private sector added 163.000 jobs (183k forecast) and separately job claims fell to their lowest level since 1969 as US productivity came in u/c at c.3%. Dow finished up 21 the S&P down 11 and Nsdq fell 72. N.Y. lost top spot in the UHNW city table to HK though the US as a whole with c.79000 individuals easily outstrips Japan (17900) and China (16870). In Asia stocks are all lower led by the Nikkei (-c.300) and for the 6th straight session, Toyota & Sony reacting to the strenght of the Y$. SH had started higher on buyers coming for the big caps but has slipped back to a 3 loss atm. HK is down 230 a 13 month low for the Hang Seng. In the City UHNW tables HK is top dog with c.10.000+ individuals qualifying. The nos: Oil $76.42. Gold $ 1201. £$ 1.293. £€ 1.112. Vix 14.65. FF -2 & DF -40. Coin $6489 gained $48 but cryptocurreny worries has tanked Coin this year by some $184bn on Wed it plunged 12%. The total value of all BC stands at $110bn after hitting a peak of $294bn in Jan. I know of two sell trades of 8000 each that never got logged on lse. Do not rely on the bargains dealt or volumes. Guess you have to buy L2 but tbh I'm not that bothered as every seller has a buyer. I used to avidly watch the vols but became disillusioned when buys outstripped sells by 5-1 and the shares fell...on many occasions I've seen this happen. Prices are manipulated far too often for my liking.

Jeez JFT...Christ i sympathise with you this has been a megastophy for pis who believe in the basics of investment....we are a dying breed trampled by the forces of short-terminism of iis and weak next to useless regulatory bodies in the London mrkt. I hope your experiences here don't entirely put you off from future investments but I sure as he'll wouldn't blame you for washing your hands of the whole shebang, for that is what it is. It's a loaded deck against the average pis stacked for aces to be dealt from the bottom while you get the two's & three's from the top. I mean why bother your arse getting skammed by the self serving barrow boys topping up their champers wk/end nights down East End strip club's? I suggest you sit on cash for at least the next 3-6 months and good luck in your next money making venture.

I've given up trying to fathom what drives G's momentum, forward or back as a total waste of time which I could be using more profitably researching these new 'crowd' funding operators coming to market. Seems to be holding 150 bid in morning dealings, whether that's the bottom of the trading range 150-160 I don't know...but if I was still invested I'd be out or at least having some free runners at that price.. As ever you pays your money.... A break sub 140 looks a forlorn hope but I'll wait and see it won't cost me to bide my time.

Why on earth would one invest in Genel, a cash machine with substantial unrealized assets, when you can invest in any number of dogolies!...oh well nowt so queer as folk...we live and learn.

Kinda like I expected shares off 3 on the day and techs doing poorly in the US (Nsdq down 96). I'm afraid I have little faith in Co Brokers sp targets...their usually front runners anyway and from memory the Idea sp has invariably been higher than Broker forecasts....Oh, & cheers for the 4% upside! I remember a broker forecasting an sp in a Co I had shares in (trading at less than one penny) of 16 bloody pence! A year later still sub 1.

London stocks fell to a 4 month low the ftse off 74 for a 2 day drop of 122 dragged lower by miners, Nat Grid & Unilever. Other than the on going Brexit / trade dramas there was little for the mrkt to react to. New car sales jumped 94.000 units in August with 1/12 being electric models however despite the Aug jump new sales are down 4% reflecting consumer budgets under pressure. As US tech stocks came under pressure at the bell, London slumped to a days low of 94 but by close had repaired some of the damage closing down 75 (7383) The All off 39 (4074) & 250 lower by 160 (20388). It was little better in Europe the DAX down 1.4% & CAC off 1.5% where the euro traded at £1.156 mostly concerned by US/Canada coming to an agreement on NAFTA trade talks. In N.Y the Dow fell to the days low of 25871 in volatile dealings throughout, 3 higher highs and 4 lower lows in the session. However by midday the Dow had steadied (+10) and was outperforming the Nsdq which was on the slide to a days low of 7950. The US trade deficit of $50bn the highest in 5 months barely moved stocks. Shares in Twitter fell 4%, Fbk down 1% (Senate hearings)Google lost $15 a pop, Microsoft off 3%, Amazon no longer a trillion Co fell 2% and Netflix slumped 6%. Tesla fell again gripped vice like by the shorters to another new low of $281. Shares have tanked $70 ytd. Profit taking and 'rotating' sent the Nsdq down 96 closing below the 8000 mark, the S&P fell 8 the Dow gaining 23, ytd up 5%. The Dows trading range this year is 21730 to 26620 or c.4900 points. In Asia TK led the fallers on news of another earthquake hitting the North island Hokkaido early this morning which will impact tourism. Airlines led the fallers. Late pm trade the Nikkei was off just 65. In HK the Hang Seng was at session lows down 175 dragged lower by Tencent off another 2% which accounts for c.1/3 of the HS fall. In SH stocks are up 5 points at mid session halting the 6 day slide which contributed to the 18% fall in the SHCOMP ytd. The nos: Oil $ 77.22. Gold $ 1198. Vix 13.91. £$ 1.291..£€ 1.110. Coin $6418 (-8%) currently. FF called up 5 & DF down 14. Morning all.

$77.35 cannot get past $80 as traders sell futures/trade contracts into any short profit/loss position......the talk of $100 oil seems as fanciful as ever standing here....(in my local) and like a re-rating of G is off into the wide blue yonder. One thing..... when it turns it will catch most traders on the wrong foot but what's gonna kick the OP up to the next level given Iran, Venezuela & US frackers not exactly mining a mint? The OP price is remarkably sanguine about ME events. I ask you...have we been sold a pup, the OP going South not North?

Yea me too (re: divvy) Tartine...not that I would benefit...but I'm now near a buy- back- in price sub 240..ish.

With G bouncing around the 240s to 270s for the last 3 months and the cont increasing production, oil price and cash flows not being fully realised in increases in share price, perhaps it's now time for the bod to either get on the acquisition trail or to consider paying out a dividend as little of what the present board have achieved is being reflected in value of G. Somethings gotta give imo and soon!

Not quite what I was expecting but spreading Ideas footprint in the most important economy in the world is a plus. Probably too small to impact the sp materially given debt/cash terms of the acquisition but going in the right direction with obvious possibilities to increase revenues in the years to come.

Unusual trading activity for this time of year tempts me to return as 150 is easily breached. However at 158 ish its too rich for me. Whether any take over moves are a'foot is probably the main question pis are asking themselves. With just c.£30m revs and valued at c.10x that and just say 4p of eps its flagging red to me...... bwtfdik!

The 100 opened weakly to flat in early dealings with only the PMI construction nos for the mrkt to digest, they showed a slowing down and chatter re the Gov of the BOE "Will he go or will he Stay?....looks like he's staying put. The Head Honcho of TSB takes home £1.7m under contractual terms for the abject failure of their software /IT systems and haemorraging customers...N.I.C.E. The 100 closed off 47 (7458) having turned lower when the Dow fell 150 almost from the bell. Sterling recovered a touch, the 250 down 147, All Share (-26) and Aim u/c. In N.Y stocks picked up late to close the session down the 30 lost 12 at (25952), S&P fell 5 & Nsdq down 18. Incidentally both the S&P and Nsdq are just off 5 consecutive monthly gains. Earlier news of Canada talks resuming to revise the NAFTA agreement met with little response as did $200bn on China tariffs starting this Thursday. Stocks in focus were Nike (-3%) as new ad campaign featuring Kaepernick 'the knee' the NFL Q back who led player revolts against racism, social injustices & police brutality sent Nike stock lower. Facebook sagged 3% on broker downgrade, Conns Ind tanked 9% on poor Q2 results and SOTM Tesla cont its slide falling another 13% to $289. Going the other way were Nordstrom which added 3% and Amazon pushed up 1% to close at just under $1trillion ($2030) after becoming the 2nd Co to hit the magic no, it was just $1.50 a share in 1997! Top of the poppermost on the 'big board' were Home Depot and Boeing. Widespread losses in Asia, TK off only 92 with just 5/33 subindexes gaining. It's been a miserable couple of months in Japan, firstly the heatwave and now Typhoon Jebi wreaks havoc on the West Coast with floods washing away buildings, cars etc... Seven reported dead and major airports are closed. E/ mrkts (S.Africa in recession) and trade concerns are never far away. HK is down 500 (mid session) a near 2% fall as techs are hammered led by internet giant Tencent off 2.5%. SH cont its downslide and is off 25 the days low just before mid day and S.K. tracking sideways is off 4. The nos: Oil $77.95. Gold $1193. £$ 1.286. £€ 1.109. Coin $ 7365. Vix 13.16. FF -18 & DF + 8. Snapdog leaving money dormant earning nothing for you aint best practice. However your personal circumstances probably allow you to forget (£500 pa in zero return?) and not bother but it's a chunk of money towards a holiday etc...for me that is... Not sure you should get involved in buying bits of coin at % of $7000 that really is 'spin the wheel' economics which happily I know little about. Stay with the tried and tested snapdog is my best advice. Over the long term you should do well...stats say you will if your timing is right heh heh heh!! My problem is I have no long term. I've run many marathons of investing times and have just staggered over the line for the last time....?
