Think it's about time the LSE & lse among other providers of share price information to say "that's it" were finished. The info provided is rarely up to date, rarely carries the correct vol trades etc, and rarely

Most pis invest with blind folders on knowing full well they are being screwed on price and vols. I recently tried to buy a small amount in an Aim stock (200m) outstanding to be told no quote available and when checking..... no shares had been traded! Was I bovvvered? Nah!

Not long before the likes of Shell, Diageo, HSBC etc will be unavailable for pis to invest, pressaging the end of the stock exchange as we have known it since those Jonathans coffee house days in 1803.

The whole system needs a massive revamp with more transparency and fixed quotes for at least a nano second! I think its about time quoted companies be allowed to quote prices and trade their stocks (the jobbers cannot do it). Made to pay dividends the day after the Annual report not years later and start Q reporting as the NYSE does.

And finally insist their is a company representative available 24/7 to answer pis queries on the knowledge the firms quote will be suspended should no-one be available. I can't tell you the hassle I have had over the years trying to speak to management.

That would be a start. Will it happen? Not a chance. Keep the buggers in the dark is the safest option one which most companies rigorously enact. Notable exceptions I can think of NEXT plc for one, have always been shareholder friendly (I was a very early investor at 10p). Don't look now!.

Unfortunately a few small cap stocks i invested in went bust through lack of iis interest and support (thanks Woodford).

Got off my backside and bght a few with ammo ready should 1330 be breached.

Getting near a must purchase price given last eps were not far off 200p putting the shares on sub 8•5 p/e. That's cheap even buy the UK mrkt which traditionally undervalued UK companies..... well compared to the US. My one bugbear is Jet2 is an Aim counter with little interest from the big iis. That imo is a plus for those with a 2-5 year view.

Does anyone know why 0 trades are listed? Recently they have been cropping up everyday, for instance 4 times on Tuesday. Seems pointless.

Markets breathed a sigh of relief amid reports Trump may hold back some reciprocal tariffs set to start on April 2nd. He is said to be adopting a more moderate approach by omitting a set of industry specific tariffs.

On the big board top 30, stocks turned in a fine performance yesterday led by the tech sector posting solid gains. The 500 snapped a 4 week losing streak which has occurred only 66 times since 1928.

The 500 & Nsdq fell into correction territory earlier this month which legendary investor Paul Tudor Jones says when an asset price falls below its 200 DMA its time to get out.

Only 7 stocks ended down on the day, led by Nike, Merck & Verizon. Heading higher HD, Amazon, Nvidia & Tesla whose European sales plummeted 45% and to make matters worse was outsold by BYD the big Chinese EV maker.

However US investors piled into an oversold Tesla who extended its rally of Friday by surging $34 (12%) clawing back some of this year's losses to join other top S&P performers United Airlines +7% and AMD up 7%.

defence group bab**** int joins the ftse 100 today following a near 50% rise in its shares this year.

the company which maintains britain's fleet of nuclear subs is leaving the ftse 250 for the big board. current valuation c. £3•7bn.

the shares along with other defence stocks have risen on the back of increased spending by european countries.

in other news hargreaves lansdown a one time favourite of private investors until they became embroiled with one nigel woodford has been taken over by a consortium led by abu dhabi sovereign wealth fund in a £5•4bn private equity deal.

Asian mrkts are mixed at the start of wk 13 following positive cues from Wall St on Friday. Chinese & Australian officials warned of widespread shocks to the global economy from US trade policies to redress imbalances in favour of US companies. Many investors are on the sidelines awaiting a clearer picture to emerge.

The Nikkei is relatively flat in choppy trading after losses in the previous 3 sessions took the 225 below the 37,825 level with blue chip gains offset by weakness in exporters and financials. Autos and Banks are lower on profit taking. At the close the 225 was down 69 at 37,608.

Hong Kong and Shanghai are flat in lack'lustre trading due in part to Trump Tariffs slowing exports from Asia and overcapacity in China. The Govt efforts to get consumers back in the shops and spend is proving harder than first thought. Beijing will focus on supporting low income households and funding for trade-in programs hoping footfall will increase.

In Sydney the ASX200 climbed off day's low 7899 to close at 7937 helped by the manufacturing sector continuing to expand in March. It was a mixed picture across most equity sectors. Rio Tinto and Fortescue Metals are up more than 2% along with Mineral Resources gaining 3%. Oils and Gold's are better.

In other news Helia the mortgage lender slumped 26% after providing an update on its supply and service contract with Commonwealth Bank who intend to switch to an alternative supplier. James Hardie Industries fell 12% after a deal to merge with NYSE listed AZEK in a cash & shares transaction worth $8•8bn got the thumbs down from investors.

MSi data wk 12 and aggregate total buy and sell vols wks (1-12). Another quiet week with no news to move the shares which traded in a narrow range all week though sellers got the upper hand by weeks end on an average of 14 trades a day well down on last week's 54 a day.

On Wall St stocks showed a lack of direction over the course of the session struggling to extend its recent rebound rally. Most swung back and forth across the unchanged line before eventually closing modestly lower.

On the big board 17 stocks fell led by Nike, IBM & WD while UH, Honeywell and GS gained. Among other notable stock changes Accenture slid 8% after a mixed earnings report while Ai related stocks Meta and Nvidia bucked the down trend adding c.1% each.

The 10ytb note fell to 4•19% its lowest level in a week as gold futures hit a record high and crude futures saw a slight decline. On the take over front Softbank announced the acquisition of Ampere Computing a private silicon design company in an all cash transaction for $6•5bn. The day petered out with many investors on the sidelines away from the roller coaster mrkt movements.

Morning all.

The Fed announced its widely expected decision to leave rates unchanged but signalled that it is likely to lower rates twice more this year.

The accompanying statement went on to say "uncertainty around the economic outlook has increased" and continued "its attentive to the risks to both sides of its dual mandate." Fed officials still forecast rates in the range of 3•75%-4•00% by the end of the year.

Investors credited Powells nonchalant performance for lifting the S&P to its best 'Fed day' since July (+61). While rates remained unchanged in the US despite Trump urging Powell to cut to boost main street, the BOE and Swiss National Bank will announce monetary policy decisions today. No change is expected.

US equities showed a strong move back to the upside during the afternoon session as the Dow put on 383 where 21/30 big board stocks gained led by Boeing, Amex & IBM. Going down Amgen, J&J and Merck. At the close the Dow had pulled back 125 points on profit taking and position closing.

Nvidia ($119) was one of the main gainers cutting its loss for the year to 12% and Tesla ($240) rose 4% but still down 42% as Musk battles with investors turned off by his closeness to Trump and his role as DOGE czar. General Mills the huge cereal snack maker fell short of forecasts for revenues and profits. Shares closed $1•30 down at $59•20 due to poor Q3 nos.

Morning all.

Wall continued the slide in stocks as big tech has fallen out of favour among investors. Recently the Dow fell into correction territory described by some as "a bull crash". The drop for tech continues a trend where momentum at one time seemed unstoppable but has since dropped following criticism they had become too expensive.

Chief among them have been stocks that zoomed higher during the frenzy around Ai. Nvidia fell 3%, Super Micro tumbled 10% and Palantir sank 4%. Not confined to big tech Tesla has been struggling on worries it will lose sales because of anger at Elon Musk, who has been leading efforts to cut Govt spending. Not a popular move among US citizens fearing unemployment as a Fed CNBC survey raised the probability of a recession to 36% from 23% in January. This has ki'boshed investor sentiment according to the latest University of Michigan survey to its lowest level since Nov 2022.

EV rivals cont to chip away at Tesla's business. China's BYD announced an ultra fast charging system that it says is nearly as quick as a trad gas fill up. Google fell 2% on news it would buy cybersecurity firm Wizz for $32bn it's most expensive purchase in its 32 year history.

On the big board 8/30 stocks gained led by Verizon, Chevron & UH while Nvidia, IBM & Walmart propped up the laggards. The Dow has fallen 7% this month on stagflation fears which refers to an economy characterised by high inflation, low growth & high unemployment.

Gold has flourished in this tit for tat tariff war of Trump's making hitting daily record highs as physical gold floods out of London into the US.

Wall Street's rally continued for the 2nd day after being hammered by the 'Trump tarrif' sell off. The Dow put on 353 points with all but 3 stocks gaining on the day.

The 3 losers were Amazon, Amex & Nvidia. Heading the risers board we're Nike, UH &

Walmart.

However investors are

mindful of new levies on US trading partners that will kick in as soon as next month. The uncertainty about how deep the impact will be helped Gold to hit new record highs of $3018 aided by central banks demand.

This week will see policy decisions by the Fed, BOJ & BOE. All 3 are expected to stand pat on rates. The US central Bank will also come with updates to its outlook on the economy in light of Trump's trade measures to slash taxes, immigration and federal jobs.

Asian mrkts track Wall St higher today as they react positively to China unveiling a special action plan over the weekend to revive consumption and boost stock and real estate markets.

The Hang Seng and Shanghai mrkts are higher on the news and in Sydney the ASX200 climbed above the 7800 level led up by iron ore miners and techs. Gold's are the only weak spot. Bigest gainer is Smartplay Holdings which rocketed 48% on takeover talks with 2 parties. Sydney closed 64 points better at 7854.

In Japan the Nikkei has gained 437 points heading to the close. Stocks are up across the board led by exporters, techs and Autos.

Banks are sought with UJF Financial up 2%. Among major gainers Mitsubishi Heavy and Japan Steel are up 8% & 4% respectively. Looking ahead Chartists are forecasting the 225 to trade at 35,260 in a years time having closed 386 better today at 37,440.

On the political front Trump and Putin are expected to talk this week on ways to end the 3 years war in Ukraine. However Putin's tough conditions could be a stumbling block despite Tump getting Zelensky to agree a 30 day ceasefire.

Good point pharmhall unfortunately it will be months before we ever hear anything. I'm pretty sure back in the day companies were required to announce anything that might impact the share price immediately, good or bad. Perhaps the rules have changed or some companies can't be bothered?
