Seems the odd quick single is paying dividends this morning. The scoreboard is ticking over but spectators are hoping for some 4s or the odd 6 hit.
Being a cricket fan I would call the captains in at the lunch break and ask them wtf is going on?

Oh well if it takes 2 to move the sp may it long continue! But a 7% spread + costs ain't the best way of doing 49 bits of buizz.

Very weird nos and size of deals in REA this morning. I cannot remember seeing so many trades under 100 must be near 15 to what purpose I have no idea. Any thoughts anybody?

Asian mrkts have slipped back on virus worries as many believe the consumer will not return to the "HighSt" until countries are declared virus free.
Despite Chinas 2Q growing at 3.2% up from the Q1 contraction of 6.8% the recent rally in equities could not be sustained.
In Australia the Govt reported that Victoria had confirmed 317 new cases of the virus the ASX200 is off 54 (5999) and 10% ytd.

Coronas and Banks got the mrkts off to a bright start at opening this morning. The Dow boosted by vaccine news and Goldman Sachs stellar 2Q nos, flew through 27000 (+430) by 11:00am. Moderna continued yesterdays run up gaining another $9 to $84 in early offerings and is seen as farthest along in creating an inoculation. Stocks allied to early 'reopenings' all gained, American, United both up 7% and Delta 6%. American plans to furlough 25,000 frontline staff who have been sent 'Dear John' letters. R.Carribean put on 8% to $56 on hopes of casting off anchors soon. Industrial production boomed 5.4% in June the best month on month nos for 60 years.

The market is backed by piles of cash looking for risk assets away from treasuries/bonds. Hedge Funds, Mutuals, pis are heavilly involved in backing vaccines, techies & the odd lot special situations. Goldman smashed forecasts with revenues up 93% shares rose $3 to $217.
The Nsdq comp rose over 100 in early moves backed by Apple winning a court case with the EU over a $15bn tax bill & Msoft up to $210. The big board had only 1 loser Verizon, Raytheon topped the leaders with Boeing, Amex, Coke & IBM all up over 2% the Dow 330 to the good. Overnight there was no real improvement on the virus front but at least nothing worse.

Hertz has been all over the place today on 2.8m traded shares up 10c to $1.41 vols are 90% via Robinhood punters. Luckin Coffee fell 4% to $3.07 as co founder and Chairman Lu lost control of all his stock in the Co.
Tesla slipped $35 ($1511) as one over excited analyst has a price target for Tesla at $2322 over next 12 months. A year ago it was $250 and nobody foresaw or got close to what's happened since.
London had a good day the 100 adding 113 the All 59 a tired looking mrkt is pinning its hopes on a vaccine breakthrough and business starting the long haul back. US mrkts moved sideways from lunch a late spike was cut back in the final minutes, the Dow closing 200 off best.

Oil prices rose after US crude inventories fell boosting Malaysian palm oil futures for the 4th straight session nearing a 4 month high.
The benchmark palm oil contract for Sept delivery on the BMDE added 25 ringgit to 2527 ($593) and soy oil gained 2%.
Traders said they expected a 10% drop on month of July 1-15 exports. Cpo & Crude might be at 4 month highs. but REA at 4 month lows or rather just above.

Which of the two do we follow?
A combi of both I guess or nobodies much bothered as the sp is mostly 'finger licking' in the wind and seems not to follow either. Someone's making runs but the scoreboard is stuck.

Big Mack & Dow inc pulled the Dow back up from a weak (-75 ) opening along with Merck, Cat & Boeing. Banks were better, JPMC up 2% beat forecasts along with Citigroup. Wells Fargo however disappointed after much worse than expected Q2 nos, shares fell 3% as the dividend was slashed to 10c (51c) and a nasty $2.4bn loss booked ($6.2bn profit) first time since 2008. Banks have put aside $bns to their credit loss reserves during Q2 bracing for the pandemic which could threaten customers and corporates ability to repay loans.

Cruises were under pressure RC, Carnival & Norwegian all down c.2% as several brokers advised clients to avoid the sector. Delta whose 2Q nos missed expectations, reported a staggering 94% drop in passenger revs. Daily cash burn has reduced but still a massive $43m a day in June thanks to parking 700 planes to adjust to demand, ie an 85% drop in capacity. Shares little changed the sector as a whole marking time with gains in the cents.

At 10:00 am the 30 was up 100 led by oils, Msoft propping up the losers off $4 ($203). London ended 4 better on the 100 as Huawei has been banned from the UKs 5G network. The Dow was up 300 by lunch just below its 200DMA (26222) with the techs flat at 10,389 most of the session but put on 100 late on the FAANGs off session lows (Msoft $208). Tesla jumped c.$50 after hours. Robinhood a Broker popular with stay at home punters (zero commissions) have been piling into the stock some 460,000 hold the shares. Short sellers are rumoured to be nursing $23bn in losses.

By the close all 4 major indexes were at or near highs for the session the Dow boosted by cyclicals had it's best day for 2 weeks on virus news from Moderna who said its vaccine produced antibodies and a robust immune response in all patients. Shares jumped 12% after hours ($87).
Novavax joined in adding $6 to $110, Gilead Science ($77) unchanged. The news came too late for Hotels & Leisure which were little changed to lower on the day.

Since 30/4 (REA 88p/ closed at 56) on news of an iis selling out despite the millions of shares which subsequently have changed hands the sp has moved little. Were now in the summer doldrums for equity prices so a chance to add if you believe the stock to be undervalued.
EV and NAV nos I'm afraid are just that. There is zero chance of REA being valued at anywhere near that in the short term. A more realistic nos would be 100 tops imo as invstrs fret over REAs ability to service its debts and demand for palm oil one minute buoyant the next despondent.
So is it worth your while to hang around and see if the mrkt will ever reflect the value of the business? Have to say on balance probably not if your in a hurry, especially if you know of a stock that defies the gloomy Mr Market. Ring me if you do as I tend to di-worse-iffi!

I'm holding till the results in Sept if there is no appreciable increase in the sp then I see no point in bashing ones head against an immovable mrkt. I was early, as usual into Rea at 3 figs so nursing a 25% loss to date. Given the All share is off 19% a none too shabby result. Still it's been said before looking at the scoreboard instead of the field of play is folly. Or put another way shift your focus from price to fundamentals. The mrkt is full of people knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing.
As far as I can see REAs current share price reflects 'scoreboard' watchers not the value on the field of play. I'm trying to do the latter, until Sept anyways.

Asian investors got a sharp and painful reminder of the threat of infections to the global economy with big surges seen in US, India & S.Africa. US mrkts tumbled late on. It's all red across Asia heading towards the close.

Not helping is the continual spat between US & China now over maritime claims in the South China Sea and Singapore GDP contracted near 13% its worst ever economic downturn and the weakest of the SEAN. Sellers appeared from the off but no "get me outta here" panic stations.

The Dow followed the rises in global equities at open jumping 250 the Nsdq pushing on towards 11,000, shaking off worries about record infections in Florida (15,300) yesterday and a total count of 271,000. US total cases rose to over 3•3m to date.
The surge of infections seems to be confined to the Southern States & California which is shuttering all entertainment businesses, the Northeast relatively unscathed in comparison.

Stocks advancing were Healthcare & Banks. Tesla jumped $214 to $1759 becoming the 10th largest US stock by value at $341bn. Disney added $2.50 on back of GS starting coverage, reopening its Orlando theme park and that it had signed up 10m users for its streaming service. Universal Studios and SeaWorld opened the gates to the public as well. Corona-vs are on buy lists, Novavax up 13% ($108) & Moderna adding 18% to ($74) as Jefferies started research on the Co with a $90 target price for the stock. Moderna will join the Nsdq 100 in July. Gilead up 2%. Big board bio Pfizer rose 4% on news that the FDA had fast tracked its virus candidate for trials and other Health stocks were wanted, J&J, United Health and Merck all well up the leaderboard.

Airlines were down across the sector by between 2% & 4% and R.Carribean, Carnival & Norwegian followed suit trending lower by c.4%.
Boeing as you will have guessed languishes in bottom place though at lunch had put on $2 to join the gainers. Some big names are due to report this week. Among Banks JPMC, WF, BoA, Citigroup and Netflix, United Health and Delta post Q2 nos. Its estimated earnings for the S&P 500 will be off 44% for the quarter making it the worst Q since the 2008 financial crash.

As London closed up 81 the Dow was trading around 26520 mid session and the Nsdq 10760 off its 11,015 intraday high but 14% ahead this month! Late afternoon sellers moved into techs which had been up 6/8 last weeks knocking 400 off the Nsdq in 2 hours.

A good start to wk 29, Asian stocks were rising on hopes for the global economy and Chinas Q2 GDP. Only Singapore slipped into the red.
The grim virus nos out of the US (record daily infection increases) continue to be ignored in Asia in favour of ongoing optimism for a vaccine cure, cont support from the Fed and Q2 earnings to hurdle the low bar of investor expectations. US Banks report Tuesday, Flix on Thursday.

US stocks closed the week on a solid uptick day gaining throughout the afternoon session. Virus news from Gilead Sciences that its remdesivir treatment shows improvement in clinical recovery and a 62% reduction in mortality risk sent the mrkt higher. Gilead added 2% to $76 other coronas fared less well, Moderna down 4% & Novavax off 2%. It's not all gravy among the tablet pushers.

Cyclicals bounce on any potential virus solution. Airlines and Cruises were back in favour, Carnival added 10% as best boat trip. Banks topped the big board JPMC gaining 5%. Flix (+8%) & Amazing put on $17 to $3200 were subject of Broker comment, helped the Nsdq comp to another record close.

Cpo closed up $9 at $682 a gain of $21 on the week. Ytd the average is c.$679 and July mtd $669 ($509)...Sp was static volume was a much reduced c.28,000.
Other London palm were stuck in the go slow lane. KLPI gained 48 down 11% ytd and crude added 12c to $42.97 on the wk.
