The non defence parts turned over £36m with little in the way of profits. So how much could the company expect in a fire sale having failed to attract a buyer? A couple of £ mill looks very optimistic imo. A 'raspberry' jam proposition for a buyer?

US stocks gained yesterday as the 500 and Nsdq posted new record closes. The 500 posted its best 2Q since Dec'23 climbing nearly 11% & the Nsdq is up 33% since its April low. On the big board 8/30 stocks fell led down by Nike, Boeing & Amazon. Heading higher GS, Apple & Visa. The Dow which has lagged the 500 this year is currently up 4% ytd (S&P up 5%).

Some analysts think the Fed is planning 3 rate cuts in '25 which has boosted equities particularly among the 'penny' varieties which are among the most actives. As stocks continue their run the USD is set for its worst H1 performance in more than 50 years. Gold prices hover around $3330 as stocks hit new highs and investors shift from safe haven assets to equities.

Markets will have a shortened session on Thursday when jobs growth data for June will be released. Mrkts will be closed on Friday for the 4th, July (Independence Day) holidays.

Britain's stock mrkt has suffered its worst H1 in decades. Analysis reveals that stock mrkt debuts have raised just £150m this year and the lowest since 1999. The figures will intensify disquiet over the state of the London equity mrkt which has been hit by departures, bad press and take overs by foreign predators.

The exchanges woes (not exclusive to the UK) have called for measures to force British pension funds to invest on home soil. I'm afraid that's a non starter as equity ownership has been on the decline for years with no new blood to replace it. Trying to resuscitate the 1980s golden period of privatisation campaigns is a going to be a long hard slog as many of my generation have long upped sticks.

A city task force has been set up to spearhead a revivalist campaign. I wish it luck.

Of course no'one knows if this is the low for the day given the trend has been massively up since 2020. Excluding the volatile recent sp performance (May '25 through to July '25) most investors would be more than happy and imo have overdone the 'gloom' stakes. If you've been in sub 500 you might rest easy!

Therein lies ones chance to pick up oversold shares as loose holders sell out. As long as your prepared to hold which usually works in your favour by smoothing out the ups' n downs during volatile periods you will do well.

Not what I was hoping for but a company making £20m on revs of £117 (looks a tad 8 points low to me) ain't doing much wrong. No idea what next years nos will be given the warning about rev recog but look for an increase to c.£21-23m pre tax. I note pharmhall has pbt at £24m eps 108 ( he's better at nos than me). Current p/e is just over 10x more in tune with a knackered out of favour plodstock.

£40m wiped off mrkt cap on 90,000 shares traded at a av value of less than c.£11m dont make a lot of sense to me. Could be the low for the day even if investors have been spooked by the hinted profit warning which takes the shares back to late May price of 1100. Silly low price imo. Check back at close to see if any ?

Recovery

Predictably the shares tanked 200+. I shall add if anywhere near 1000 later today depending on trade vols.

Results of £20m profits on £117m turnover ain't half hot Mum! Increased dividend and further orders from the US Navy slightly dampened by news the petrol & forgings division couldn't find buyer(s) and this years earnings (profit warning?) will be impacted by delays in recognising revenues is no reason not to celebrate an outstanding performance by the company.

Earnings of 90p put the shares at 1320 on a very reasonable multiple of c.15 sweetened by a Final Div of 18p. As mentioned 2025 looks lower but '26 & '27 will be better as orders for MSi-DS land systems are increasing and by then non essential businesses might have found buyers.

Asia is trading mixed this morning despite broadly positive nos from Wall St on Friday. News that Trump had signed an agreement with China to implement the Geneva agreement and expect to soon sign deals with 10 major trading partners pleased investors

In Sydney stocks are notably higher moving above the 8500 level boosted by gains in tech & financials though miners are seeing sellers as BHP & Rio T fall 3%. In late afternoon the ASX200 is up 56 points some 86 points off 52wk highs.

In Tokyo the 225 is strongly ahead moving above the 40,800 level led by index heavyweights and tech stocks. The 225 closed the morning session up 660 with major exporters leading the risers sending the 225 to an 11 month high of 40,481 but short of its all-time record high of 42,438 in July 2024.

Elsewhere in Asia, Taiwan, HK & NZ are down while Shanghai trades flat after marketing activity contracted for the 3rd straight month in June fuelling hopes for further Govt stimulus. However most Asian mrkts are set for monthly gains led by South Korea's KOSPI index stellar 14% gain.

MSi traded as high as 1360 before closing the week down 10 at 1320. F/Y nos were not forthcoming so expect them to be announced on Monday the 30th.

Wall St powered to new record highs yesterday rewarding investors who stayed the course through recent upheavals when the Dow fell 972 points on April 21st.

The 500 hit an all-time high of 6173 ahead of 2Q profit reports ending June 30. Analysts predict solid if not spectacular growth of 5%. On the Dow 6/30 stocks fell led by Amgen, IBM & JPMC heading up Nike, Boeing and Amazon. The DJI gained 432 to close at 43,819 still short of its 52wk high of 45,014 back in Dec 2024.

I seem to have lost a day! Results sometime next week. No idea why the delay.

I read yesterday that MSi were scheduled to announce dividend yesterday. So if not tomorrow then next week.

Wall St stocks showed strong moves to the upside after ending the previous session little changed. The Nsdq and 500 closed just shy of record highs. In particular the 500 lost then regained $9•8tn in value across 4 months a remarkable comeback from the jaws of a bear mrkt.

On the big board 9/30 stocks lost ground led by Apple, Merck & Walmart.

Heading higher Nike, Cat and Amazon all up by around 2•5%. While the Nsdq and 500 flirt at record highs the Dow 30 is 1686 off 52wk high thanks in part to poor perfomers Apple & Nike off 20% ytd.
