So do you think the numbers are telling us that there are 48 million US listed DEC shares and the 51 million UK listed ones? Surely that can’t be right as Total Voting Rights would need to be all shares as all could have a say at AGM.

Dual listing might be helping with equity raises but it’s not helping my head!

Think I’ll visualise it as 51 million shares overall of which UK reporting requirements have identified 7.7% as being sold short. Americans likely to have done shorts do a better picture than I thought 😀

They quote total shares as 48 million ish which is spookily close to the UK RNS voting rights once you add in the extra shares issued to cover last acquisition.

Yet percentage of shorts is lower at 5% ish.

Are they mixing their numbers (dumb bot) or are the numbers trying to cover shares listed in both countries but shorts held in individual ones?

Anyway, share price up another 5% and short numbers reducing with lots more to buy to close out so all good 😀😀

Shorts are not closing! Tracked shorts above 0.5% are at 2.8% still and last two moves were both upwards.

Surely you’re not telling porkies to support your clear agenda?????

Given TA is based on historical data for average share price patterns for average companies in average circumstances, can you have a go at explaining how it can also accommodate such a statistical anomaly as a 60% drop in a day?

Furthermore, all speculation for reasons for the drop and potential recovery on here is very subjective (in both directions). How does TA cope with such subjective / emotional attempts to value the share?

Worya - you're correct we lose sight once they're under 0.5% but I doubt they total 2.3%.

We see them fall below 0.5% and my assumption is they carry on reducing "out of sight" from there.

Broom - look at shorttracker.uk rather than the shorts tab here - much more up to date and you can see previous movements so you can work out how fast they are changing.

Still 7.7% of 51 million shares out there as borrowed shorts. These are going to need to be bought back to close out the shorts! If they buy back slowly it will get more expensive, if they buy back faster share price will rise more quickly! Glad it’s not my problem.

Laura - on any particular day, at any particular time, the shares are “worth” whatever potential buyers are willing to pay. So about 50p recently.

We can all hypothesise about future worth - but they are worth what buyers will pay. Simples!

Similarly the company is worth that share price multiplied by the number of shares in circulation.
