That should have read 3,000 contractors - though Sky news reports 2,600 of them have already left.
As a consultant contracted to the MoD for the last 12 years I’d argue that contractors provide a much more efficient work force. With a sensible contract They’re only paid for delivery, no holiday pay, no sick pay, no pension contributions and hire and fire as the workload dictates.
I’d say this is good for BP and anyone (Wood included) who provides contractor support.
