BBs looking pretty effective over 3 days and just 100,000 or so shares purchased.

Looks like they’re buying less as the price goes up as well so well managed.

Poor overnight.

HH down again and SP 4% down on after market prices.

Could be a bumpy few days til Q4 update.

Patience and long term view required.

Not sure they can moan about an external comment when the 2 sides have dismally failed to agree and lost a truckload of money in the almost 2 years the pipeline has been closed. Oh, and they never agreed on much before that either.

Far easier to moan about America rather than just resolving the issues.

I don’t think you can directly compare market caps that are 14 years apart!

You’ve got to factor in a whole load of other factors, inflation for one.

14 years of compounded inflation at say 3% is going to give a 50% uplift to a 2011 figure.

But you’re right that people are going to start locking in profits at some point - think I’m going trailing stop loss next week.

Depends on your time perspective.

Over 4 years I’d say yes an improvement to SP.

However, in the short term his market approach is likely to lead to increased production and thus as supplies increase price is likely to reduce.

There will be a few anomalies like different export prices etc but they’ll stamp on anything that causes significant price rises in the US.

he’s even more of a genius getting a second job after performing so badly in the first.

All 4 companies holding UK shorts are now reducing - another little reduction 20 Jan.

US price looking like it’s going to close slightly up.

Guess a bit of a sideways drift in the mid £13s until Q4 trading update end of the month.

Normally issued last day of January - that should let the markets know how well cash / debt has done, how well new acquisitions have contributed to the bottom line and how hedging vs spot sales are doing.

Can only see it being a positive then full year results out late March.

The proof of the accretive nature of acquisitions was always going to be in the improves production rate, reserves left, profit figures and reducing debt - just a shame they take a while to filter through and when you have multiple complex acquisitions the proof lags the expenditure. Patience Rodney, this time next year.........

Chose from:

- US market closed so no-one to drag us up after lunch.

- lower than average volume (75%)

- HH futures down again

- final shorter actions to get out at a lower price (easier at low volumes)

- profit taking

Let me guess:

- continuing local sales (at a fraction of oil’s international value).

- we continue to look for diversification opportunities (but continue failing to find them).

- have paid down down debt (so less money available for acquisitions).

- the BoD continue to be handsomely rewarded for our efforts (bench marked against real companies that don’t only manage to sell their single product at well below value).

- oh, and no accidents.

Agree, nothing new there. In fact I think they have gone backwards - article quotes that there is now a table in the budget that offers between $6 and $16 for oil extraction and transport costs.

A previous article suggested it had been agreed at $16.

So only constitutional, financial and budget issues to sort between 2 intransigent parties and then they can move on to ioc contracts and maybe opening a pipeline.

That should have read 3,000 contractors - though Sky news reports 2,600 of them have already left.

As a consultant contracted to the MoD for the last 12 years I’d argue that contractors provide a much more efficient work force. With a sensible contract They’re only paid for delivery, no holiday pay, no sick pay, no pension contributions and hire and fire as the workload dictates.

I’d say this is good for BP and anyone (Wood included) who provides contractor support.

I’m not normally a fan of buy backs but at this depressed share price it looks like a sound strategy.

£5million wouldn’t go far as a special dividend 😀

Whilst companies would be keen to talk with institutional investors to keep them onboard and buying would they spend time talking to likely shorters?

Guess if you could persuade them not to go short or to close out it would be worth it. You’d have yo have a good story to tell.
