If the relationship between Solg and CGP is as bad as people suggest, then why promote something you own 85% of, as opposed to something you own 100% of? Also just makes CGP realise that they have no control over events.

If the p&l and volatility is too big, then the position is too big. Most traders reduce their position as VAR (value at risk) increases. Otherwise they are assessed a higher degree of equity to support the increased position ‘size’.

Those pi’s who aren’t particularly savvy will do what they always do, sell their winners and run their losers. So there could be some short term pressure from our new punter friends. This might allow the instos in which would be no bad thing.

Arnie, telfer would cost 2billion to build now. Don’t know what it’s in the books for. But the mine is almost exhausted and in middle of nowhere. W/o a nearby resource it would be scrapped.

Hav need telfer and vice versa. Without the other they are much the poorer.

Based on what they had at the time - a few good assays and no money, this was a good deal for both sides, and somewhat of a last throw of the dice for NC.
On to scally. If Ggp drill the first say ten holes, sole risk, they will get a much better farmin if they hit something good. But what if all ten holes find a load of granite?

I think BHP will get that, and soon. NC seem to be more about pure(ish) gold plays. But if everyone takes over all my investments I will be sitting in my villa in Majorca!

addicknt, in bigging up Hav, he also alerts Rio to the quality of the asset/region. Its a fine line he has to walk atm. This is usually when the potential target buys something else to make it more indigestible to a predator. Trouble is, who is the hunted and who is the hunter!

Probably why Aus stocks trade at 2.5 times that of other mining jurisdictions.

I agree with MS that NC have more important issues than achieving a fair price for 5% of Hav, as long as they dont try and get it on the cheap.
As for Paddys point about Instos buying, I would think that this is getting closer with every piece of news to becoming an investable company. Instos prefer larger mkt caps and proven resources, and both of these things are happening.
IMHO, I woud say that on a risk/reward basis this stock is cheaper now than it was when it was sub 2p. I realise that this may seem odd to some, but its the way I look at things, and its my opinion.

Morning Paddy, MS and Ipad. I get all that and it makes sense. But how do you value what a fair value is to GGP for the 5%? Do you make an initial payment with a claim on 5% of anything else? If so, and GH wants to cash in at a latter date, how does that get valued and who gets it? I can see how it can be done but it all becomes a bit subjective.

With the region now getting as hot as the weather, I would say the risk of NC getting bid for is greater than GGP being bid for. I wonder whether Rio would see enough value in Telfer and the region to justify a bid? Of course the majority of the value in NC is in their other assets, so they would either have to love those too, or know who they could sell them to. Fun times. So many different hypotheses and a bb that just loves to speculate on the future!

Another interesting thing to come out of the presentation was that SB said that they were investigating methods of transportation from hav to telfer. Initially we assumed trucking but it must be a lot of ore to be looking at other methods such as rail or conveyor???
