If you think that the gold price will rise and want to play that with junior miners, you should look for high cost/low grade deposits as they will benefit exponentially from a rising gold price. Personally I would avoid direct investments in Africa and probably South America due to corp governance and political interference concerns. So I stick with Australia Canada and the US. My Solgold investment is the exception to the rule and that hasn’t gone well, so really reinforces my rule! An easy play is gdxj which is a junior gold miners etf.

I agree Quady. I cant see NC wanting to be involved in such a shabby process. I think NM will sell a chunk of ENSA to BHP to ensure they are on the winning side.

A lot of people are assuming that NC will have a major role to play in all this. I read them as just wanting out. Not sure they would want to team up with CGP in anything. They just want their money back and to move on.

I am no fan of NM or the direction he is taking the company but he has to be better than anything CGP come up with. So I will support the board too.

Schlemiel, if I was an insto I wouldn’t be happy to buy if I knew it was all coming from directors who were selling. So this just clarifies that it won’t be, at least not from the top two.

I know some of you guys love to diss GGP and it’s investors and the polite board over there, but one tool that has proven invaluable is the regular satellite images that we get from various free sites that show their pics. I was wondering whether the same service would be of use here to determine when NM is drilling at porvenir and others. I don’t know whether the satellites pass over Ecuador, take photos nor whether anything would be visible with all the vegetation. It’s obviously a lot easier when it’s desert. Just thought I would pose the question. Sadly I would be useless to try as I am colour blind and everything looks a brown splodge to me....

Schlemiel, Solgold has just retraced yesterdays gain. No big deal. Long proactive interview was really very newsworthy barring some stuff about drilling and new prospects. Pity they don’t have a paddygal over there. Lots of jungle might make it difficult though.

DGR yes the 18 are part of the 32. They were awarded last September. As I have said I think they are sending a message to the market that they won’t be exercising these in next 12 months, in fact they can’t now. This is definitely positive news, but slightly odd, so I think in response to a query about their recent exercise activity.

My take is that they are telling the mkt that they won’t be exercising these options, and therefore selling any shares associated with the option exercise, for the next year. Maybe in response to an institution querying whether, if they bought, they would be buying against director sales, which is never very nice.
So, good news I think.

So if you withhold material information, and I would suggest that all drill results are material, for a company the size of Solgold, and therefore are price sensitive, you are making every single one of the people who know about the drill results, insiders. That is because the information is price sensitive, specific and non public. So all the management and board of Solgold, the assaying company staff, the drillers or drilling company and all the other people in the loop of information being conveyed. Every company would want this information released as quickly as possible to stop leaks, false markets and people breaking the law whether they know they were or not. There are times when people are required and happy to sign up to be made insiders, often when there is a deal to be announced that requires financing or a share placing. In the normal course of events this is rare and not something that companies desire.
Maybe Solgold manage their business differently to most.

Quady I really don’t think you understand the insider trading laws and reporting requirements of companies listed on the main market. Either that or you are being intentionally obnoxious.

Because it’s not material to them or their shareholders.

Panama, I am with you on this. We will learn more through debate and those with opposing views. My experience of zoros is that he will challenge and debate with you/us, not like some of the weekend rubbish. He might be wrong, but then we all often are, but filtering someone who posed an opinion that can be debated, helps no one.

The question of releasing drill results is a question of materiality. For BHP or shell it can probably be deemed immaterial due to their size. For a company with a market cap of £400m and no production or income, I would argue that all drill results would be material and therefore should be released ASAP.
