So a few of us can sit all smug and say I told you so, we do know what we are talking about, but actually this has shocked me. Why did they buy on the UT? What idiot suggested that? Why didn’t they start buying at 4pm and hoover some up in the low 20s? The easy answer could be that they are German and they do like a rule to follow. But the poor investors in GDXJ have been right royally shafted. As I am one of those I will be selling my GDXJ on the opening and finding a smarter investment. They say you are never too old to learn and at 64 I just have learnt something but the real feeling I have is WHY did they do that?

Ok Miagi, from these posts we learn a lot about people. Quady is a top bloke with sincerely held beliefs and very knowledgeable about Solgold. We just see things differently.
You on the other hand are a really nasty piece of work. So jealous about the money that has been made over on GGP. Not a holder and clearly not going to post when the price is rising, so you wait till there is a fall to try and stick the boot in. For some reason you see other peoples success as something to be disapproved of. I dont think I ever want to read your opinions again, so guess what, I wont.

Miagi, why are you posting over on GGP board? You have stated that you dont own any shares. Why comment? Or did you buy at 25.40p?

Droverman, the price that the stock enters the index is the closing price today. Ie 4.30. If you are a fund that tracks the index you need to buy basis the closing price to be price and risk neutral and to perfectly track the index. Its got nothing to do with US markets. I think all adjustments are basis todays closing prices, but of course with an index with stocks from multiple exchanges, the closing times are different.

Mushy. In theory they have to buy AT 4.30, but obviously this isn’t practical so they will be buying ahead of this. How much ahead is anyone’s guess. A week? A few days? A few minutes? The earlier they buy the bigger their risk. Of course they could try and buy all on the close and at a price they will get them all but that won’t happen cos they aren’t that stupid. Look at deGrey today, closed off the highs. Some one or a group we’re waiting for them and they got completely ambushed.

For some reason some people think the buying will happen on Monday. That will only happen if they dont get all they need today. The shares go into the index basis the closing price today. So if GDXJ want to mimic the index they have to buy it all at 4.30. They have probably bought some already but will try and but the rest today.

I have two accounts, one with HL and the other with Barclays. I had considered placing an order in tomorrows auction just in case the above thought about a late trade a la Sprott a couple of months back. So I contacted them to ask them whether they will work an order in the auction and both said no, they just work normal market hours.
I wonder if there is any broker that would take an order that would be valid through the auction?

I cant think of anything worse than helping LL make some money.............

DGR, so are you certain that all the current expenditure till the PFS is for NCs account? Thats a big call.

Paddy, you have uncovered something that is very significant and I would think that its important enough that it needs clarifying by GH. It could be material to GGP and the sp. But it can only be good news, which is nice.

Companies need to have a premium listing on the main mkt to get into the FTSE250. They also have to have income to get a premium listing.

Hi Elise I havent joined this discussion up till now. Does it have to be either fully paid off or nothing paid off? Can you top slice GGP and top slice the mortgage too? Thats what I would do, but you really should do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable.
Do some 'what if' analysis and see how that makes you feel in various price scenarios. That might help gauge your attitude to risk.

Morning TmT. Nothing from Frankfurt overnight. My feeling is that they wouldnt want to scrap the entry for tomorrow, so they will either do it right with the bigger weighting (and adjust all the other weightings accordingly) or they will just add the other billion or so at the end of Nov decision which will be announced early Dec. But markets can be thin in December and the index will be wrong for 3 months. Will they want to do that?
