TmT. The weighting was established last week based on end August valuation. That is set in stone so the rising price reduces the number of shares to be bought (assuming that everything else stays the same). That we know I think and is broadly understood. The increase in buying caused by their errors will be based on a higher correct weighting but will again be fewer shares caused by the rising share price but will obviously be a lot more than the initial estimate.
So what I am saying is that a rising share price causes the weighting to increase but doesn’t affect the number of shares needed to be bought because the weighting is increased by the value of the shares which is a function of the share price.
If this is too esoteric and dull for others we can continue this elsewhere!

TmT. One thing though, and it’s a bit late for me to get my head round... you might want to have a re think about the weighting increase caused by the sp rise causing more buying in December, cos I don’t think it will. The increase in free float will definitely add to shares bought though.

Mushy they could say that but then they would have to change how they describe the composition of the index. Otherwise they could be in danger of misrepresentation as the index wouldn’t be as described and GDXJ would be tracking something composed wrongly. Naturally that was something I pointed out in my latest email to them tonight.....

I have to think that three years of zero int rates and targeting 2%+ inflation should give gold a bid to put it mildly. I am going for $3,000 next year and that could be conservative. Should make those tassie assets worth a bit more.

If there was any volume in cgp I think you could be right re SSF. That could explain the selling of solgold shares too. But that would mean cgp are going to fall to solgold, which the rhetoric would say isn’t going to happen.

Addicknt, I would say that its illogical now its this extreme. But one can never fight the markets.

Addicknt, markets arent unfair, unless they are always unfair. If you think they are mispriced then you can take advantage of the mispricing.

Do you KNOW that ENSA/Alpala/Cascabel cannot be sold without incurring a large tax bill? If so can you explain how you know? If its only from what NM said in a webinar a couple of months ago, please say that, so that I can discount it!
I will choose as to whether I believe NM or not, and I think others should do the same.

Quady the facts have changed as we have FN confirmation and we are getting closer by the day to all that stuff happening in Oct. Thats why I added 200k today.

We eat in the Rose occasionally. Had a superb fillet de boeuf in there pre lockdown.
Dont like Marshalls. Too old for me. But I do fancy Ockendon House but too expensive by probably 500k.
